Our minds turn to the many gifts that we have which are easy to take for granted: food, family, shelter, clothing, friends, and health. We give thanks for our country and the freedoms we enjoy.

I asked several of the school children this question, asking them to look beyond the obvious and I share with you their answers. For dancing! For money. For sleeping, (Amen to that!

Eighth Grade I am thankful for the veterans who fought to make us free. Fifth Grade I am thankful for smiling. I am thankful for good weather. I am thankful for having Jesus in my life.

Thanksgiving is upon us, the traditional day when we pause to consider our blessings and give thanks for them. Our minds turn to the many gifts that we have which are easy to take for granted: food, family, shelter, clothing, friends, and health. We give thanks for our country and the freedoms we enjoy. We are blessed with people who nurture and protect us: the fire and police departments, soldiers, first responders. But for what else are we thankful? I asked several of the school children this question, asking them to look beyond the obvious and I share with you their answers. For dancing! For money. For sleeping, (Amen to that!) Junior Kindergarten For yo-yo s. For money. For God. For my teacher. Second Grade I am thankful to come to a Roman Catholic school. To be alive. To graduate. To be able to go to high school. Eighth Grade I am thankful for the veterans who fought to make us free. Fifth Grade I am thankful for smiling. I am thankful for good weather. I am thankful for having Jesus in my life. I am thankful for the Bruins! I am thankful for the Trojans! I am thankful for being Roman Catholic. - Moms and Dads of Visitation School. And for us? Beyond the usual gratitude for family, friends, food, health, shelter, if we were to look deeper, what would we give thanks for? THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON TO BE THANKFUL Thank you, God for the times you have said No. They have helped us depend on You so much more. Thank you, God for unanswered prayer. It reminds us that You know what s best for us, even when our opinion differs. Thank you, God, for the doors You have closed. They have prevented us from going where You would rather not have us go. Thank you, Lord, for the physical pain You ve allowed in our lives. It has helps us more closely relate to Your sufferings on our behalf. Thank you, God for the alone times in our lives. Those times have forced us to lean in closer to You. Thank you, God for the uncertainties we ve experienced. They have deepened our trust in You. Thank you, God for the tears we have shed. They have kept our hearts soft. Thank You, not only for our eternal salvation, but for the salvation You afford us every day of our lives as You save us from ourselves, our foolishness, our own limited insights and our frailties in light of Your power and strength. Thank you, God, for the greatest gift You could ever give us: Forgiveness through Your perfect Son s death on the cross on our behalf. Finally, thank You, that we can pray in the name of Jesus, who made our access to You and a personal relationship with You possible. Amen. Fr. Classes are held on Sundays from 9:15 am 10:45 am and began on Sept 10th. November and December are exceptions to this.
