8 LAST CALL TO ATTEND OUR PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL AND ITALY!!! Two years ago, we had the privilege with 20 of our parishioners to explore the rich cultural and spiritual wonders of Assisi, Florence, Orvieto, and Rome. After such a great trip, we are excited to present to you this great pilgrimage opportunityfor the Spring of 2019! Let s take a look for a sec and see just what we have in store: May 6 17, 2019 Why visit only one country when you could visit two? In May of next year join our parish as we make our way throughout Fatima, Alcobaça, Batalha, Lisbon, Rome, and Assisi on a Marian Pilgrimage in honor of our patroness, the Blessed Mother! There are 35 seats available for this pilgrimage. The starting price for Land & Air Packages is $3,500 a person in a Double Occupancy room. If you would prefer a single room, there is an additional fee of $440 to cover the expense. The Land Package includes the tourist tax for both countries, the tour leaders and tour guides, the hotel accommodations, the museum and monument entrance fees, our deluxe coach bus, and reserved dinners. * Here is a snapshot of our current itinerary: Day 1 May 6th Depart the U.S.A. from JFK in the evening for an overnight flight into Lisbon. Day 2 May 7th Arrive in Lisbon International Airport and meet up with our tour guide and tour leader. Then, climb aboard the bus and head out to Fatima to our hotel. After Check-In and orientation, have the chance to explore a little before an opening dinner with the group. Day 3 May 8th After breakfast, we will make our way to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima for Mass and a morning of prayer to kick off the trip. Afterwards, we will meet up with the bus for a day of visiting the cities Alcobaça and Batalha and their respective ancient monasteries. After some time exploring, we will make our way back to Fatima for an easy and quiet evening. Day 4 May 9th After all that running around over the last few days, it s time to take it easy and soak up all the beauty that Fatima has to offer. Today is an open day, but there will be optional excursions throughout the city with our tour guide offered if anyone has caught the adventurer s bug. Day 5 May 10th Today we leave Fatima behind and move on to Lisbon for our next round of tours after checking into our hotel. Here we will visit the Praca Do Commercio, the Monastero dos Jeronimos, the Belem tower, the Baixa, and the High Bairro. Day 6 May 11th Today we ll continue our exploration of Lisbon by visiting Rossio Square and the Chiado area of the city. Day 7 May 12th Today we wrap up our time in Portugal and fly over to Italy to arrive in Rome. As we transfer from the airport to the hotel we will have the chance to visit two of the major basilicas of Rome: St. Paul Outside the Walls and St. John Lateran. After Check-In and some free time, it s time for dinner. Day 8 May 13th Starting with morning Mass in St. Peter Basilica, we will have the chance to explore both the Basilica and then the Vatican Museums, home of the famous Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo s ceiling. Day 9 May 14th As is fitting on a Wednesday in Rome, we will join the vast crowd of the faithful and attend Pope Francis general audience in St. Peter Square. Afterwards, we are free to sightsee to our hearts content. Day 10 May 15th Switching gears a bit, we will travel by bus to the hilltop town of Assisi and visit the basilicas of St. Clare and St. Francis and have the chance to pray by their relics. We ll also see St. Francis home and the little church of San Damiano where he heard a crucifix speaking to him. Then, we will have Mass in the Church of Saint Mary of the Angels before returning to Rome. Day 11 May 16th Our last full day in Rome! Today we will visit the Colosseum and some other local notable sights before traveling to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for Mass. Tonight we will have our closing banquet of the pilgrimage and get ready to come home. Day 12 May 17th Arriverderci Roma! It s time to get back on the plane and head home and get ready for the next pilgrimage! I hope that you can join us for this exciting trip next year!
