2 In most Christian countries, especially those of the catholic faith shrines devoted to Our Lady are to be found. Portugal has some amazing and beautiful Marian shrines and this programme takes into account our vast heritage, with visits to sanctuaries of central Portugal including Lisbon, Évora, Nazaré and Fátima. Our aim is to show some of the most beautiful churches in Portugal, but also small chapels that are well-hidden treasures. 3 Day 1 - Welcome to Lisbon Reception at the airport. Transfer to the Hotel. Free afternoon to explore Lisbon. Accomodation Hotel 4*. Extra option: Traditional dinner in a Fado house to listen a performance of this unique and emotional music style. Price on request. Lisbon s Cathedral Day 2 - Secrets of Lisbon Breakfast in the hotel. Full day tour in Lisbon to visit some of the main religious attractions, starting with Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral), the main religious building in the city, followed by a visit to Castelo de São Jorge (St. George s Castle), Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Jerónimos Monastery) a UNESCO World Heritage site. Close to de monastery there is the Torre de Belém (Belém Tower), an icon of the city and once part of the defence of the river. 4 Day 3 - Charming Évora Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Trip to Évora with a first stop at Vila Viçosa to visit the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Church of Our Lady of Conception), patroness of Portugal. Check-in at the hotel in Évora. Rest of the day free to visit this charming city of Alentejo. The main attractions are: Sé de Évora (Évora s Cathedral), Templo de Diana (Roman temple), Praça do Giraldo (Giraldo Square), Capela dos Ossos (Bone Chapel) and the university. Roman Temple - Évora Accommodation: hotel 4* or similar. Giraldo Square Day 4 - Wonder and Mysticism in the West Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. Trip to Santarém to visit the cathedral and the Igreja dos Milagres (Church of the Holy Miracle). Afterwards continue to Óbidos, a cosy medieval town surrounded by walls. Time for lunch and visit of the picturesque streets, the castle and churches. On to Nazaré an iconic beach in Portugal for its culture and tradition, where a beautiful Marian Shrine can be found on top of a cliff with an amazing view of the beach. Trip to Alcobaça to visit the wonderful monastery, one of the main Marian Shrines in the country. The day s tour ends at Fátima, the religious capital of Portugal. Check-in at the hotel. 5 Day 5 - The Miracle of Fátima Breakfast in the hotel. Free morning to visit the Sanctuary, attend mass and visit the Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário (Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary), Basílica da Santíssima Trindade (Basilica of the Holy Trinity) as well as the Capelinha das Aparições (Chapel of the Apparitions). In the afternoon, pick-up at the hotel for a visit of Aljustrel, the village where the little shepherds lived and then visit to Batalha with its imposing shrine devoted to Our Lady of Victory, the Mosteiro da Batalha (Batalha Monastery), one of the most beautiful and impressive buildings in Portugal.
