Canon Lenhardt will visit with us for the first time since his departure from St. Louis in September He will be the celebrant of a Solemn High Mass on Sunday, August 5, at 10:00am. Please join us afterwards in the hall and greet Canon who is looking forward to visiting with you on this joyful occasion. G A If you are unable to receive Holy Communion due to a serious allergy to gluten, and wish to receive these consecrated Hosts, please be at the end of the Communion line and let the priest know that you need the low-gluten Hosts.
4 D S H F We are pleased to announce that, with the assistance of our friends at the law firm of Stinson Leonard Street LLP in St. Louis, a new legal entity, the DeSales Heritage Foundation, has been created. DeSales Heritage Foundation is a public charity, tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). All donations made to the Foundation are therefore tax deductible according to IRC Section 170. The governing instrument of this newly-established Foundation provides that its purpose is to promote and support the restoration, preservation and improvement of our church building, an historically and architecturally significant structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We anticipate this narrow objective will encourage companies, associations and other entities that may not wish to support religion, as such, to contribute. The new DeSales Heritage Foundation has already been approved by The Boeing Company as an eligible organization for the Boeing Cash Matching Program! Many corporations match donations made by employees to a recognized non-profit, such as DeSales Heritage Foundation. Please inquire about your company s employee gift matching program and guidelines. If you need to provide details to qualify DeSales Heritage Foundation for your company s program, please contact Mr. Charles A. Redd at (314) or charles.redd@stinson.com. R If you wish to become a member of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, please return a registration card to the Oratory with your contact information, and we will send you a form for registration. Through your membership you can help support our work at the Oratory most effectively and allow us to be in contact with you. Prayers and monetary sacrifices are very necessary for the upkeep and restoration of our church as well as the development of our community. Please pick up one of the registration cards which are available at the entrances of the church. P G Please remember St. Francis de Sales Oratory in your Will or Living Trust. An appropriate Will or Trust provision would be: "I give to The Friends of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, Inc., St. Louis, Missouri, for the Oratory's unrestricted use." I A The Oratory s biggest annual financial obligation is that of our property and liability insurance assessment. Our insurance assessment for the fiscal year was $90, In the beginning of March 2018 we made our first payment of $32, and this week we paid the remaining $57, The insurance assessment is $93, We are relying on your continuous generosity and donations which you exercise by using the insurance envelope and by your restricted gifts. Please help us off set this cost by donating today. Thank you very much! 5 S. V P D B There is a St. Vincent de Paul Society donation bin in the Oratory parking lot on Iowa Ave. (north side of the gymnasium). Any clothes or small household items that your family no longer needs may be placed in this large blue bin. Our local chapter of the SVdP then receives money for these donations which enables them to purchase household items for those in our neighborhood who need a helping hand. S, A 12 G T S G W Mr. Bob Shea gives a 60-minute guided tour of the stained glass windows of our church. (These tours are offered, regularly, on the 2nd Sunday of every month after the 10am High Mass.) Each month these tours are slightly different, emphasizing different aspects of the more than 35 windows, which were installed over a hundred years ago by Emil Frei & Associates. The tours are free of charge. Please bring your binoculars. P R R August Abortion can leave deep, unresolved wounds in the hearts and souls of women. If you or a woman you know is hurting from an abortion experience, the St. Louis Project Rachel Team is offering a retreat on August for women seeking hope, healing, and peace. The retreat is offered in a private, nonjudgmental setting. To learn more or to sign up, contact Marisol at or ihnpfaff@swbell.net, or go to L R G Join us on the first Monday of every month from 7-9pm in the convent. Pray, make rosaries for the missions, and enjoy a night out. There is no cost to join, and no experience required. C C 2018 A 5-10 For the 9th year, the Institute of Christ the King Choir Camp will take place from Sunday, August 5 to Friday, August 10, In the rolling hills of Maple Mount, Kentucky, the Ursuline Motherhouse in Mount St. Joseph will once again be the setting for our week-long workshop on Sacred Music. This is a wonderful opportunity for students age to learn about and experience the rich musical tradition of our Catholic Faith. Please consider making a donation so that we can offset some of the expenses and to offer Choir Camp scholarships to students. L V! The Oratory could not operate without the help of volunteers! We are extremely grateful for the generous work, the common concern for the welfare of the Oratory, and the friendship to the Institute. If you have any interest, skill, or service you would like to offer, or help with handyman or cleaning tasks around the Oratory, please contact the Oratory office. There are always indoor and outdoor tasks for which we need help, such as: plumbing, carpentry, furniture repair, concrete repair, window and screen repair, wall papering, sewing, and housecleaning. Any and all help would be welcome and appreciated. H O H R! Spring is the time that many of us begin tackling those long overdue home repairs and improvements. Did you know that you can help raise money for the Oratory while working in the garden, painting the living room, buying appliances, installing new flooring, adding a sprinkler system, building a shed or upgrading a kitchen with very little extra effort? SCRIP gift cards can be ordered in larger denominations for those bigger (or smaller) home projects. Please contact the Rectory Office at (314) for more information.

8 TO ALL OUR GUESTS Canon Wiener and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the Cathedral of South St. Louis may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith. Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion. We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians. To receive more information about the Oratory or if you desire to become a member of the Catholic Church, contact the rectory.
