MICHAEL S PATROL B S Help support our youth at the Oratory by joining us for a feast of tasty treats! Bake sale will be held after both the 8am and 10am Masses. T BOTH M S G W T Mr. Bob Shea gives a 45-minute guided tour of the stained glass windows on the 2nd Sunday of every month. There will be an extra tour this month on Sunday, April 29th. These tours highlight some of the more than 35 windows in our church and cover both the art history and religious aspects. These beautiful windows were installed by the Emil Frei Company more than a hundred years ago. The tours are free of charge. Please bring your binoculars. T! G S S 2 C S Your generous donations for our seminary in Gricigliano will help with the formation of our future priests. This year s First Year s Class, the class of 2017/18, was the largest in the history of our young Institute. Be assured of the many prayers of the seminarians for their benefactors all over the world. With 23 total seminarians from the USA and 2 US-American First Year seminarians, we are fortunate and grateful for the benefits the US-Province of the Institute is reaping in the vineyard of the Lord. N B D R A 16 Sacred-Music-Workshop-2018/ The Institute s Second Annual Chant and Sacred Music Workshop, with Canon Wulfran Lebocq, Canon Aaron Huberfeld and Mr. Nicholas Botkins, will be offered at St. Francis de Sales Oratory on April 20-22, The workshop will begin for all participants on Friday, April 20, with check-in registration at 4:15pm. The Friday day classes, beginning in the morning after the 8:00 am Mass, will offer intensive teaching and practice for choir directors and more advanced singers only. 4 D S H F We are pleased to announce that, with the assistance of our friends at the law firm of Stinson Leonard Street LLP in St. Louis, a new legal entity, the DeSales Heritage Foundation, has been created. DeSales Heritage Foundation is a public charity, tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). All donations made to the Foundation are therefore tax deductible according to IRC Section 170. The governing instrument of this newly-established Foundation provides that its purpose is to promote and support the restoration, preservation and improvement of our church building, an historically and architecturally significant structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We anticipate this narrow objective will encourage companies, associations and other entities that may not wish to support religion, as such, to contribute. F H C 2018 First Holy Communion for children of the Oratory will take place during the 10:00am Mass on Mother s Day, May 13, The deadline to register your child for First Communion was Friday, March 16, The child s First Confession must be made by the week prior to the day of your child s First Holy Communion. Confession can be made during any of the confessional times listed in the bulletin or by appointment. Notify the Rectory with the date. Please contact the rectory as soon as possible to make an appointment with the Rector, Canon Wiener, in the month of April. During the meeting Canon Wiener will ask your child some relevant questions concerning the teaching of the Church about the Eucharist. A mandatory rehearsal for the children will be held on May 6th after the 10:00am Mass in the church. THE FIRST COMMUNICANTS WILL RECEIVE THE BROWN SCAPULAR THAT SAME DAY. Thank you. Our insurance assessment for the fiscal year is $90, In the beginning of March 2018 we made our first payment toward the insurance obligation of $32, We are planning on making the final payment of $57, in June of this year. We are relying on your continuous generosity and donations which you exercise by using the insurance envelope and by your restricted gifts. Please help us off set this cost by donating today. 5 N M B These beautiful Mass Booklets are available in the church since last Sunday. They are free to use while attending Mass. The color booklets were expensive to produce, so we kindly ask that if you would like to purchase a booklet for your own use, please pay $10.00 to the Oratory to help us cover the costs. Thank you very much. R C H S C C A R C N 17, :30AM It is with great joy that we announce the visit of His Grace, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, to Saint Francis de Sales Oratory on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:30am. Archbishop Carlson will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation and will assist at a Solemn High Mass. Please contact the rectory office in case you have any questions and you or your child(ren) would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. We can help you review the eligibility requirements (minimum age for Confirmation is 12) and register for classes that are mandatory for anyone who will be confirmed. Classes will be taught from 5:00-6:00pm every Thursday in May and from September to October. C R To encourage and continue to enrich your spiritual journey throughout the Easter season, listen to Catholic radio, AM 1080 or Programming includes daily Holy Mass, the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, live call-in shows, local programming and much more. These booklets were created by the canons and their staff in Ireland. We believe that all instructions and especially the music notations are very helpful during the attendance of all three forms of the Mass celebrated in the Institute s apostolates (Low Mass; Sung Mass; High Mass). This involves light dust mopping and clearing the pews of handouts, etc. New volunteers will be most welcome and can call the office at (314) to sign up. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion.
