P P, A J 1: T M P B A 6-11: C C A 20: O F BBQ A 28 - S 1: C M S, J 9 S P A I T L M In honor of the 10th anniversary of Summorum Pontificum, Canon Commins will be giving a conference on the Latin Mass, first of a series of talks. This first conference will offer an overview of the Mass and explain the basics of the liturgy. This series of talks is sponsored by Sursum Corda, a nationwide initiative of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, to foster the spiritual and intellectual life of young adults. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. Bring your family and friends! As usual, the conference will be at 12:00pm in the basement after the coffee hour. For the 8th year, the Institute of Christ the King Choir Camp will take place from Sunday, August 6 to Friday, August 11, Registration is open for choristers ages In the rolling hills of Maple Mount, Kentucky, the Ursuline Motherhouse in Mount St. Joseph will once again be the setting for our week-long workshop on Sacred Music. Seventh Annual S C R August 11th -14th at Mundelein Seminary Sursum Corda is a nationwide initiative to foster the spiritual lives of the young adults in the apostolates of the Institute of Christ the King. For the seventh year in a row, Sursum Corda is offering a social and spiritual weekend for young people ages 18 and up, August The event will be held on the beautiful grounds of Mundelein Seminary just north of Chicago. Canon Commins (Vicar at Saint Francis de Sales Oratory, St. Louis, Missouri) will be the chaplain for the camp, and several other canons are sure to be there as well. The program includes daily Mass, prayer in common and opportunity for confession, faith formation classes and discussions, and other social activities for young men and women. The weekend begins with check-in at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 11 at Mundelein and will end on Monday, August 14 at 12:00 PM. This year's admission fee is $250, which includes lodging and meals. **Your check is your registration!** Please be sure to include your name/address if it is not on the check. 4 S P N On June 23, our tower was once again struck by lightning. Since we turned off the power to the bells and clock, they were both unharmed, but our elevator was sufficiently damaged so that it is currently unusable. The only way to prevent this from happening in the future is to get surge protectors for the elevator, bells and clock. The surge protectors will protect our electrical systems by limiting the voltage spikes due to inevitable lightning strikes on our tower. Each surge protector will cost about $10, Although this is a big investment, it is absolutely necessary. Please help us by donating today. S G W Our Lady of Sorrows and the Good Shepherd The prayers and generosity of so many of you made it possible for us to pay off the repair of the stained glass windows above St. Joseph s altar. Thank you! The Emil Frei company has already assessed the repairs needed on two of our small windows: Our Lady of Sorrows and the Good Shepherd (north transept). Our hope is to begin this project in Fall Due to the surplus from the last project and recent donations we now have $2, for the new project. T H C W B From May 3rd to September 14th, using a relic of the True Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, there is a special blessing which asks God s protection against violent storms that frequently occur during these summer months. It is customarily given after Low Masses during this time. S Y C Private campground in Wausau, Wisconsin For Youth Ages Boys: St. Michael s Patrol July 17-21, 2017 Girls: Company of the Immaculate July 24-28, 2017 OPEN TO ALL! During the camps we provide Catholic formation to young men and women by teaching them virtue, discipline, and love of God and neighbor, following above the spirit of St. Francis de Sales, who teaches that all men and women in all walks of life must aspire to holiness by learning to love the holy will of God. ACTIVITIES: include Mass, confessions, Rosary, faith formation, cooking contests, scavenger hunts, campfires, swimming, outdoor games, skits, music and much more. FEES: participation fee is $75 per child. A family rate of $300 is available to any family with four or more participants at either or both camps. Christus Regnat - Christ Reigns was recorded in the Institute s church in Florence in honor of Christ the King and includes Gregorian chant pieces and organ music. The price per CD is $20.00 and the money will support our seminarians in their formation. Thank you for your support. When you have a crying child, particularly during the sermon, the canon of the Mass or when the propers of the Mass texts are sung by the schola, you are kindly asked to make use of the vestibules. You are also requested to prevent the children from running and banging on the pews. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion.
