SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Guadalupe Chapel. OFFERTORY GIFT BEARERS What an honor it is to carry the wine, hosts and offerings to the priest at Mass for consecration. Thank you for your cooperation. 7 CAR WASH Thomas Jefferson Drive As you get your car washed, help the poor and needy. We receive 10% of what CTR parishioners pay. We regularly donate this income to LINK, S.O.M.E. and the Women's Shelter in Leesburg. As you pay at the carwash, tell them you are from CTR so we receive their donation. AVAILABLE SERVICES FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED A sign language interpreter is available on the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays of the month at the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Along with the Masses, our parish has induction loop and receiver systems for the hard of hearing. The devices are located in the Usher Room. SENIOR GROUP The CTR Senior Group meets Fridays at 11:30 a.m. in the Library for Bring Your Lunch meetings or at a local restaurant on the second Friday of the month. Parishioners 55+ are invited to join. The time frame for all workshops will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. New Ministers must attend ONE of these workshops. At this time we ask that you contemplate serving in this important ministry. The Diocese of Arlington is a vibrant diocese and we have been truly blessed. Yet, with this blessing comes increased spiritual and pastoral needs and an even greater obligation to help the many people in our midst who require our assistance and support. We are asking all families in our parish to support the Bishop s Lenten Appeal (BLA) to the fullest extent that they are able. Abstinence from meat is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and Passiontide and on Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, everyone over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60 th year is also bound to observe the law of fast. On these two days, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs; but together they should not equal another full meal. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, therefore, are the only days of both fast and abstinence. OPERATION RICE BOWL We follow Jesus this week on our Lenten journey as he enters into Jerusalem, a community he knew well. CRS Rice Bowl asks us, too, to prayerfully enter into our own communities, to find those who are hungry and thirsty, who need our help. INITIATION RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA) Palm Sunday of the Lord s Passion So begins Holy Week in which we take to hand palm fronds to remember and commemorate the spectacle of Jesus entering into the city of Jerusalem. All hopes and expectations are set in motion and our senses focus on the pageantry, formalities, and prominence of rituals and scripture that begin today. We rise to this celebration with a Gospel Reading, a joyous procession with waving palms and a Sprinkling Rite. We rise again during the Liturgy of the Word to hear a contrasting narrative of the Lord s Passion, knowing that by week s end we will journey again with the Lord from death to life. The Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday hold this promise to the Elect and Candidates who will join the Body of Christ in his dying and rising, becoming one with us and full members of the Church. Their joy will be one with our joy. May this Holy Week deepen and bring about the Lenten conversion: Turn away from sin and believe in the Good News!
