Baptisms are scheduled monthly on the first Sunday throughout the year, and also the third Sunday from April to September. Frank is updating the parish report about our five-year goals to include the accomplishments from this year (Year I) and adding the goals set for next year (Year II). We are working on the suggestions from the bulletin ad of early spring. Those who submitted suggestions have been contacted and told what steps are being taken about their suggestions. Youth Ministry meets every Thursday evening and having consistent attendance. Reactions from the April 25 th Meeting and Update on Ministry Guide: Council members were pleased with the animated discussions from the joint meeting with Ministry Heads. All are working on sending in photos of their ministries for inclusion in the Ministry Guide. The subcommittee (Fran Turecamo, Elenore LaPorta and Linda Bealey) hope to have the Guide ready for the Celebration of Ministries Day in October Goals: Last year the Council set three goals, which we feel have been met this year: (1) Youth Ministry supported and strengthened as it got underway (2) Stewardship of Time and Talent, and making sure that follow-up for volunteers from last October has been done, (3) Work on Adult Faith Formation, and starting the monthly Back to Basics nights with Fr. Frank. Setting Goals for : The Council will continue to help Fr. Frank stay on track with our Vision and Mission, as well as work on the second year of our five-year plan. Three goals were set: (1) Begin to plan for our 100 th Anniversary, which is less than 4 years away, (2) Continue to support Youth Ministry as it begins its first full year, and (3) Support and guide the new Stewardship Committee, now planning the Celebration of Ministries (Oct.).

6 Page 6 Parish Ministry Leaders have met with the Pastoral Council to develop a Parish Guide to ministries and groups. Leaders are working on photographs as part of the Guide, which we hope to have ready for the Celebration of Ministries on October 14th. As the project develops, we will spotlight a parish ministry or group. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist the priests and deacons in the distribution of Holy Communion (bread and wine) to the congregation at Sunday and other Masses. Many ministers feel they are unworthy to serve, yet they are people with a love of the Eucharist. Extraordinary Ministers are scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. Formal training and the mandate of the diocesan bishop are required, as well as ongoing training, e.g., a Day of Prayer.

O glorious Saint John the Baptist, greatest prophet among those born of woman, although you were sanctified in your mother's womb and led a most innocent life, nevertheless it was your will to retire into the wilderness, there to devote yourself to the practice of austerity and penance; obtain for us of the Lord the grace to be wholly detached, at least in our hearts, from earthly goods, and to practice Christian mortification with interior recollection and with the spirit of holy prayer. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be II. O most zealous Apostle, who, without working any miracle on others, but solely by the example of your life of penance and the power of your word, drew after thee the multitudes, in order to dispose them to receive the Messiah worthily and to listen to his heavenly doctrine; grant that it may be given to us, by means of your example of a holy life and the exercise of every good work, to bring many souls to God, but above all those souls that are enveloped in the darkness of error and ignorance and are led astray by vice. Debbie will be talking at the masses on July 21-22, and you will bring your donations on August 5. Whether you donate a book bag full of supplies or some individual supplies, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Food Needed Summer is upon us! This means that the kids are out of school, vacations, and many good things to enjoy. For Peggy s Pantry, this also means that the donations from schools, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts come to an end until September. The pantry tends to be a little barer in July and August. 14 Page 14 Eucharistic Adoration The Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration on the main altar in the church every Wednesday afternoon, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please join us for prayer and Adoration! 2:00 p.m. Rosary for Life; 3:00 p.m. Chaplet of Divine Mercy. In Memoriam The altar bread and wine for this weekend s celebration of the Eucharist have been donated by The Fogal Family in memory of Vito Vitollo All are invited to the recitation of the Rosary after the 9 am daily mass and Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to join the monthly healing service that takes place at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of every month.
