Renovation work, including cleaning of the Room and the installation of paintings, a Cross, a portrait of Our Fourth Pastor and commemorative plaques are underway. The Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans Chap 5, Verses Jesus, the New Man, reverses Adam s sin of pride. Gospel of Matthew, Chap 14 Verses 1-11 Christ is victorious over the temptations of the Devil. Dear Friends: In my travels, I always enjoy the opportunity to visit a church. Not only is it a welcome opportunity to spend time with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle, but I enjoy reading the weekly Bulletin! I recently came across a thought-provoking reflection on Lent. The individual who composed it was not named. But whoever it was, the writer sets a challenging tone for Lent. Yes, Lent is a time to give up a behavior that is not good. But what do we substitute in its place? My hope is that the following will help us to add a new behavior that will be a positive replacement: FAST from judging others; FEAST on the Christ who lives in them. FAST from emphasis on differences; FEAST on the unity of all life. FAST from apparent darkness; FEAST on the reality of light. FAST from thoughts of illness; FEAST on the healing power of God. FAST from words that pollute; FEAST on phrases that purify. FAST from discontent; FEAST on gratitude. FAST from anger; FEAST on patience. FAST from pessimism; FEAST on optimism. FAST from worry; FEAST on divine order. FAST from complaining: FEAST on appreciation. FAST from negatives; FEAST on affirmatives. FAST from unrelenting pressures; FEAST on unceasing prayer. FAST from hostility; FEAST on non-resistance. FAST from bitterness; FEAST on forgiveness. FAST from self-concern; FEAST on compassion for others. FAST from personal anxiety; FEAST on eternal truth. FAST from discouragement; FEAST on hope. FAST from facts that depress; FEAST on truths that uplift. FAST from lethargy; FEAST on enthusiasm. FAST from suspicion; FEAST on truth. FAST from thoughts that weaken; FEAST on promises that inspire. FAST from shadows of sorrow; FEAST on the sunlight of serenity. FAST from idle gossip; FEAST on purposeful silence.
