No Clothing, Please! MISSALETTES As you can see we have taken the plastic protective covers off the Missalettes. We are preparing the new books which will begin at the start of Advent. The cost of our new Missalettes is slightly over $3, We would be most grateful if you could help us defray that cost by placing a little extra in the Regular Collection. Vincent Taglienti Deacon Joseph Weckbach Dear Brothers and Sisters, November 6th is Election Day in the United States. I d like to take this opportunity to reflect on two points. First, we live in the greatest country in the world. We are Americans. I have no problem saying that with pride, and I never take for granted the freedoms that have been won for me. This is one of the reasons why free elections are so important. Free elections are the hallmark of a free society, and countless Americans have given their very lives so that our way of life could continue. Second, we are Catholics. This is even more important than being an American. Jesus sacrificed his own life for us so that we could have eternal life. When Jesus was conceived in the womb of Mary, he showed the great value of human life, from conception all the way to death. When we walk into a voting booth, we don t stop being Catholic, any more than we stop being American. When we vote, Jesus expects us to remember this, and to remember the most helpless among us-especially the unborn. We can never turn off our Catholic consciences when we pull the lever for a candidate. We live in the greatest country in the world, but our true citizenship is in heaven. Please make sure to pray before you vote and give thanks to God for the freedoms we have. God Bless you and the USA, OUR SCRIPTURE READING AT MASS THIS WEEKEND The Book of Deuteronomy Chap 6, Verses 2-6 The Lord, the God of your fathers, will give you a land flowing with milk and honey. The Letter to the Hebrews Chap 7 Verses Jesus is always able to save those who approach God through him. The Gospel of Mark Chap 12 Verses 28b-34 To love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
