Two smaller meals are allowed. LENTEN FRIDAY ABSTINENCE For those 14 years of age and older: On the Fridays of Lent we are to refrain from meat. OUR FINANCE COUNCIL On January 31st, our members, Ron Bellantese, Margaret Damo, Louise Guglieri, Kay Harnett and Nick Leshi met to review the finances since September: expenses are down and income is up. There was a review of the progress of the Renew And Rebuild Campaign: although we have raised $731,00.00, the additional Air-Conditioning expenses will require more funds. In the meantime, the Archdiocese has given us a loan to cover this. Father Aufieri shared the results of a Financial Audit: we did very well. He also mentioned that we recently had an Energy Study of the Rectory, Church and Lower Church and will be taking steps to save costs. The next Council Meeting will be on May 16th. Once again, our foreheads will be marked with the blessed ashes, a reminder to us of our mortality. The ashes are an invitation to move away from unhealthy habits and harmful attitudes that block God s grace and impede that grace from working more fully within us. I look forward to seeing you on Ash Wednesday. Maybe you might extend an invitation to someone in your family who does not usually attend Church that day to join you.
