Think of Divine Life. Sacrament of Baptism. The sacrament through which God, in Jesus Christ, makes us His sons and daughters. To prepare for reception, call Fr. Edison Sacrament of the Eucharist. The sacrament through which God, like a responsible parent, feeds us, with food from heaven: His Word, and the Body and Blood of Jesus. Weekend Masses: Saturday at 4:30 PM, Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 AM, and 5:00 PM Weekday Masses: Monday - Wednesday, Friday at 8:30 AM, Thursday Communion Service at 8:30 AM For First Holy Communion, call Anthony Klosterman at for more info. Holy Communion may be brought to the sick, the homebound, and those in nursing homes and in hospitals. Call the Parish for more info. Sacrament of Confirmation. The sacrament through which God by the gift of the Holy Spirit strengthens us to give faithful witness to our Catholic Faith. To prepare for reception, call Kristen Children, older than 7 y/o, and adults who needs to be baptized, receive Communion and/or be Confirmed, call Deacon Sacrament of Reconciliation. The sacrament through which God s mercy and love, justice and truth heals the wound of human sin. Generally offered an hour before each Mass. Please give the priest fifteen minutes before Mass to prepare for Mass. Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The sacrament through which Jesus continues to heal the sick among us. Anointing is offered at each Mass on the first weekend of the month. Or call Fr to schedule an anointing. Sacrament of Marriage. The sacrament through which God calls a man and woman to become visible signs of His Love. Call Fr. Edison or Deacon for more info. Sacrament of Holy Orders. The sacrament through which the mission Jesus entrusted to the apostles is continued in the Church. To learn more about vocations to the ordained ministry, please call Fr. Edison or Deacon Never miss an opportunity to celebrate a sacrament. Holy Week in Our Parish Palm Sunday. Regular Saturday-Sunday Masses. 4:15 PM, Sacred and Classical Music Concert in church. Holy Monday. 8:30 AM, Mass in church. Holy Tuesday. 8:30 AM, Mass in church. 7 PM, Chrism Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester, NY. Holy Wednesday. 8:30 AM Mass in church. At this special liturgy, we remember both the institution of the Eucharist and the Priesthood. The Washing of the Feet is part of the liturgy, reminding us of the service character of both the Eucharist and the priesthood. The Blessed Sacrament will be reposed in the Parish Center after the Mass, until 11 PM. During this evening, it is a common practice for the devout faithful to visit churches, and to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. Good Friday. 12:15 PM, Mid-day Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours, in church. 3 PM, Good Friday of the Lord s Passion, in church. The veneration of the Holy Cross take place as we remember the passion and death of Jesus. Black Saturday. 12:15 PM, Mid-day Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours, in church. Easter Vigil. 8 PM. Celebrated in both Word and Sacraments, the Easter Vigil could easily be the most beautiful of the liturgies we celebrate as the Church. Not only we recall the great history of salvation, we also immerse ourselves in this history through the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. Bring your Baptismal candles, if you have them. Easter Sunday. 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 5 PM Masses in church. As your schedule allows you, please celebrate the Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday as one single event. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available an hour before the liturgy. Come early, and provide Father Edison 15 minutes to prepare before the services. To celebrate this sacrament is one of the best ways to receive the love of God, and to prepare for the Easter season Be holier today than yesterday. 6 Let there be light Enter Fully into the Humility of God (Reflection on Isaiah 50:7) The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame. Today begins the Holy Week, and Palm Sunday ushers the Catholic faithful into the most sacred days of the liturgical year, the Holy Triduum - from the evening of Holy Thursday, to Good Friday, until the evening of Easter Sunday. In these three days, the one single event (please forgive the redundancy), that is, the Paschal Mystery (passion, death and resurrection) of Jesus Christ unfolds before us. If we are to marvel at the essence of the Paschal Mystery, it would be at the revelation of the humility of God. God in Jesus is humble enough to take on human flesh. God in Jesus is humble enough even to take on human suffering. God in Jesus is humble enough even to undergo human death as the consequence of human sin that he did not commit. God in Jesus is humble enough to re-create new and eternal life through his rising from the dead. In the Paschal Mystery, Jesus shows us how God is our help - should others subject us to humiliation, to be humble is a valid and reasonable response, because God will not leave us disgraced, God will not abandon us in shame. Growing up in the Philippines, no one introduced me to the importance of the Holy Triduum. So that while my family celebrated secondary traditions like visiting churches to listen to the Passion of Jesus sang in lamentation from Palm Sunday until Good Friday, visiting churches to accompany Jesus on the eve of Holy Thursday, and participating in the procession that re-enacted the burial of Jesus, we did not find ourselves celebrating the Mass of the Lord s Supper on Holy Thursday, attending the Good Friday of the Lord s Passion, and anticipating the resurrection on Easter Vigil. It is my prayer and hope that every Christian would fully celebrate and experience the Holy Triduum in the sacred liturgy of the Church, at least once. And here, let me be clear, by sacred liturgy, I refer first and foremost to what God in Jesus is doing for us - revealing divine love precisely in humility, in suffering, in dying, and in rising to new and eternal life. Do this in remembrance of me. At the very heart of the Catholic liturgy are these very words of Jesus that he himself spoke at his Last Supper. Because of these words, Sunday cannot simply be reduced to a day of rest based on the first story of creation, however good rest is for us. Sunday sets us free from work that we may be free for, not from, worship. On this day of rest, we find ourselves marveling at God, who in Jesus works, offers his sacrifice, to redeem humankind. The crucifixes and sacred statues in church are covered with cloth until after Good Friday and before Easter Sunday. May the removal of visual aids, lead us more deeply into participating in the Paschal Mystery. On Holy Tuesday, at 7 PM, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, please join Bishop Matano and the ordained priests of the diocese at the Chrism Mass. On the eve of Easter Sunday, at 8 PM, celebrate the Mother of all the Christian liturgies, the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil is without doubt the longest of our liturgies. It would be wrong however to judge the Easter Vigil merely by its length. One would not miss the point that in a few hours, we read and hear and enter into the story of salvation from Genesis until the emptying of the tomb to the celebration of the Easter Sacraments. If you still have your Baptismal candles, I invite you to bring them at the Easter Vigil. Re-live our participation in the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ. Experience once more the great love of our humble God. - Father Edison
