Think of Divine Life. Sacrament of Baptism. The sacrament through which God makes us His sons and daughters in Jesus Christ. To prepare for reception, call Anthony Sacrament of the Eucharist. The sacrament through which God feeds us with His Word and the Body and Blood of His Son, Jesus. Holy Communion may be brought to the sick, the homebound, and those in nursing homes and in hospitals. Call the Parish for more info. Sacrament of Confirmation. The sacrament through which God by the gift of the Holy Spirit strengthens us to give faithful witness to our Catholic Faith. To prepare for reception, call Kristen Children, older than 7 y/o, and adults who needs to be baptized, receive Communion and/or be Confirmed, call Deacon Sacrament of Reconciliation. The sacrament through which God s mercy and love, justice and truth heals the wound of sin. Generally offered an hour before each Mass. Please give the priest fifteen minutes before Mass to prepare for Mass. Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The sacrament through which Jesus continues to heal the sick among us. Anointing is offered at each Mass on the first weekend of the month. Or call Fr to schedule an anointing. Sacrament of Marriage. The sacrament through which God calls a man and woman to become visible signs of His Love. Call Fr. Edison or Deacon for more info. Sacrament of Holy Orders. 6 Let there be light Let the voice of God be heard (Reflection on John 6:41-51) The Jews murmured about Jesus because he said, I am the bread that came down from heaven, and they said, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, I have come down from heaven? The murmuring of the Jews about Jesus reminds of the murmuring of the Israelites against Moses as they journeyed through the desert. In the Exodus, the murmuring reflected the lack of faith of the people in God who could and would lead them to the Promised Land. In John, the murmuring reflects the lack of faith in Jesus, which comes from their lack of understanding and refusal to believe that Jesus is the Bread of Life. Living out our faith: Keep your desire for eternal life rooted in Jesus who is the Bread of Life. Celebrate Mass every Sunday. Jesus answered and said to them, Stop murmuring among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. It is a dangerous place for anyone to talk to oneself, or to hear from a limited number of human voices. It is faith that opens us up to God and to Jesus who reveals to us matters pertaining to faith, We need to be willing to be taught by God with regards to matters of faith and morals. Living out our faith: Let your faith be continually informed by the Scriptures and Tradition, where God speaks to us with His Word, and through the life of His Church. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. Through the Gospel of John, we are blessed to have the Discourse on the Bread of Life. John unpacks for us the meaning of the Eucharist that Jesus instituted at his Last Supper. To understand John 6 is to be rooted in the Eucharist. Living out our faith: Receive Holy Communion as often as possible. Make this a personal goal, and through your witness, attract others to Jesus, the Living Bread from Heaven. We d love to hear about your trip. Thank you for the welcome last week and last weekend. It is good to be back! As some of you have spoken with me before and after the weekend Masses, a common remark was, We d love to hear about your trip. We can definitely set aside some time to talk about the trip portion of my Sabbatical. For those who are interested, let me know what you want to talk and hear about. Knowing your areas of interest will help me prepare materials as needed. We can cover places of pilgrimage, overview of the political and religious situation, and/or understanding the Land based on the Scriptures. One thing that I will treasure from my fifth trip to the Holy Land is the encounter with the different communities: Israelis, Palestinians, Jews, Christians and Muslims. It was good to hear from them their side of the story. I wish it were these voices that I hear from the news.
