4 Dear Parishioners, In the second reading from St. Paul to the Philippians we are told that St. Paul accounted all else rubbish so that Christ may be my wealth and I may be in him. What was the ultimate wealth that St. Paul wanted from Christ? St. Paul wanted to know the power flowing from Christ resurrection. When all is said and done that is what we ultimately want. Although we work throughout our lives for material goods and a good living and a comfortable life don t we ultimately want to know and experience the power flowing from Christ resurrection? Don t we want to live forever with God in Heaven in our resurrected bodies? When we come to Mass Sunday after Sunday and some of us day after day and try to do good is not our ultimate purpose to live with God in our resurrected bodies? When we are sorry for our sins we seek the forgiveness of Christ. Christ was always ready to forgive as told in the story of the woman caught in adultery and the story of the father forgiving his younger son and older son and Jesus Christ telling Peter to forgive 70 X 7. Christ is also ready to forgive us when we are sorry for our sins. He does ask us to avoid the sins that we do commit, but he is ready to forgive when we express our contriteness for our sins. We will be having Communal Confessions at St. Patrick Monday evening, April 8 th, at 7:00pm and at St. Charles Monday evening, April 15 th, at 7:00pm. Please see the bulletin for other Communal Confessions in the Fowler Deanery. Please also remember the Stations of the Cross on Thursday at 1:00pm at St. Patrick and on Friday at 5:30pm at St. Charles during Lent. Also remember St. Patrick Fish Dinner on Friday, April 12th. If you are already a Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister your name will automatically be submitted but if you are interested in becoming a Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister please notify the parish office so we can submit your name for approval before April 29. Spaghetti Dinner The Knights of Columbus Oxford Otterbein Council 9400 will have a Spaghetti Dinner on April 28, 2019 from 11am - 1pm at St. Patrick s Parish Hall. Come support the Knights of Columbus at an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner with salad, garlic bread and homemade desserts. $25 Families, $8 Adults, $5 Children ages 4-12 yrs, Children 3 and under FREE. 5 Ladies Night Out Bingo Sacred Heart Ladies night out bingo will be April 11, doors open at 5:30 and bingo will start at 6: rounds of bingo, baked potato bar, and dessert! Mark your calendars. Adult beverage for free will donation. Come enjoy an evening of socializing with your chance to go home with a designer purse, jewelry, or door prize! Rummage Sale The Benton Community Food and Service Co-op will be having a Rummage Sale again this year. It is Saturday, May 11, 2019 at St. Pat s Hall. If you are doing some spring cleaning you can donate your used good items to the co-op. You may drop off the items at the co-op on any Thursday from 9:00-6:00 prior to the sale or the church hall the week prior to the sale. Donations Needed The Community Food and Services Co-op is in ongoing need of your generous donations. The suggested item of donation for this month is DISPOSABLE BABY DIAPERS. Adoration at Sacred Heart Substitutes are desperately needed for Adoration at Sacred Heart Chapel. The hours have been shortened to 9am - 11pm every Wednesday. Adorers are always needed too. We especially need Adorers for the following hours: 10am-11am (1 Adorer), 12 pm 1 pm (1 Adorer), 1 pm-2pm (2 Adorers) all other hours of Adorers are welcome to insure someone is always there. Adoration is open to everyone.
