NICHOLAS FAITHFUL & VISITORS! Cleopas and Artemas were among the 70 Apostles, the outer circle that followed Christ in his earthly and resurrected life. Cleopas is said to have been one of the Apostles that met the Resurrected Christ on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:1332). On that walk, it is said that Christ opened their eyes and interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Cleopas is the only one of the two overtly mentioned, it is by scriptural tradition that the Apostle Luke was the other. It is not said that Artemas was present there, but he went on to become the Bishop of Lystra in Lycia, modernday Turkey along the Mediterranean. Unlike many of the other Apostles, he died peacefully and not under the sword. O Holy Apostle James, Pray to God for us! CHILDREN S KERMEŠ DANCE PRACTICE will occur in place of today s Sunday School lesson. In order for our children to properly prepare for their performances at our Kermeš next week on Sunday, Nov. 19 th, we are replacing Sunday School today with dance practice in the #2 Hall. If you can roll we need you! HOW CAN I HELP THE COOKIE WALK? The best thing that all of us can do is to talk to our neighbors, colleagues and friends and see if they would be interested in buying a box (or two!) of cookies. You can order cookies one of two ways 1) Attached to this bulletin is the CW order form. Please give the completed orders to Debbie Derevjanik or Kim Busel. 2) Orders can be placed at: It is important to indicate on the online order form who will be delivering the cookies. DECEMBER 3 RD IS THE COOKIE WALK PREPARATION DAY: We transform the Main Hall into our Cookie Wonderland. Please plan on staying for a little while to help unpack, unwrap, decorate and get ready for our big event next week. It is really a fun day and gets you into the holiday spirit as the aroma of fresh baked cookies wafts from the kitchen and Christmas decorations are scattered about. It will be a rolling day for all of the kids, young and young at heart. Every pair of hands makes a difference. SAVE THE DATE ST. NICHOLAS DAY LUNCHEON The Altar Society will be hosting the annual luncheon on December 17 th. We will sing carols, drink hot chocolate, have a fun raffle of items remaining from Tinseltown, play a rousing game of musical chairs, and as always, there will be the much anticipated visit from St. Nicholas. The food pantry has asked St. Nicholas Church members to collect the following items in order to provide meals for families on Thanksgiving: Appetizers: Boxed crackers, like Ritz, Triscuits, Meal Prep: Spices (cinnamon, dried parsley, garlic & onion powder, pepper, paprika) Main Meal: Instant mashed potatoes & gravy in a can (please no glass jars) Dessert: Cake mixes and readymade frosting vanilla or chocolate frosting only. Also, as usual, the food pantry is seeing donations of turkeys if anyone wishes to donate money towards the purchase of turkeys for families, please give your donations to Bob Zizik. 95 th Birthday Blessing Mary Medvecky Mnohaja L ita! Many Years! Sunday, Nov. 5 th The handmaiden of God Mary Medvecky came forward following the Divine Liturgy to receive a special blessing on the occasion of her 95 th Birthday, which came the previous week. Together with the parish family, thanks was given to God for all of the blessings bestowed over the years and with prayers for blessings even yet to come. 5 Conversing with the Prince & Princess of Serbia Gathered before the relics of St. Nicholas of Myra in Holy Trinity Cathedral Conferring with His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios On Wednesday, November 8 th, Fr. William, Pani Ileana, Nicole Hubka, Christina Ioukliaevskikh, Anastasia Koss, & Sophia Timko of St. Nicholas Parish & Anna Tsatsos of RutgersNew Brunswick OCF participated in the United Nations Prayer Service, chaired by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch, and attended by clergy, royalty, diplomats, and laity from around the world. The service itself took place at Holy Trinity Cathedral on 74 th Street, Manhattan and was an intercession for the forced migrants and refugees in crises everywhere.
