6 RUTH'S CLOSET UPDATE We continue to help children from Maple, Riverbend and Centennial schools who are in need of adequate clothing. We help with pants, shirts, jackets, shoes, socks and underwear. Our most frequent need is for shoes, socks and underwear. Last Fall Parishioners generously donated socks and underwear. We have pretty much depleted our supply. We especially could use socks (for shoe sizes 1-3) and smaller sizes of underwear for both girls and boys, ages 5-7. If you are shopping and see a sale think of us. It will be greatly appreciated. Please include the receipt, we need to keep track of the value of the donation for accounting purposes. St. Alice Parishioners are awesome. Thank you so much for your generosity. 7 Dear St. Alice, I wish to thank everyone for all their work for the St. Alice Night Shelter of If it weren t for people signing up, the Night Shelter would only have been a theory. Every name on those sign -up sheets is a blessing. I appreciate all of you, and I thank you for donating your time, resources, and money to make this project a reality. In addition, I wish to thank Fr. Jaspers for placing his trust in me for this project, and for his suggestions during our meetings. I wish to thank Roger and Marie Grinstead, who had valiantly run the Night Shelter for eight years, for their guidance, counsel, support, and volunteer work. Thank you to my Vice President Lori Stephens for all the work in planning, and thank you to Nelson Solano for Hispanic Outreach. The nine days before the first day of the Night Shelter, Lori, Nelson, and I prayed a Novena to St. Jude, the patron saint of our Night Shelter this year, asking for his prayers for the success of this project. During the week of the shelter, I could practically hear him saying, It s all good. Many prayers have been answered. Our guests told me of how much they appreciate the people of St. Alice for all their work and support. Without all of you and your contributions, the Night Shelter could not have happened. I wish to thank everyone for their work, commitment, and dedication. For we truly lived up to the words of Isaiah when he spoke to the Lord and said, Here I am. Send me. God bless you all. Sincerely, Christopher Hatefi
