2 From the Pastor: Happy Easter! He is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! It is so nice to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus together this year. And what a wonderful faith it is. A priest who preaches nationally for Catholic youth conferences once shared with me that he believes he can plant the seeds, but that most youth aren t mature enough to really live Christianity. I sometimes wonder if I am still a child. As such, I am so thankful for the seeds of our faith: The Mercy and Love of Christ s Death and Resurrection! That I am forgiven. That I am loved. As we go forth to this Easter, I pray that we will seriously take up Jesus challenge to go forth to share the gospel. I invite all of us this year to seek a deeper understanding of Jesus. Many of us haven t learned about Jesus in an active way since we ourselves were youths. I invite you all to our Thursday Night Discipleship Meetings as one way to learn more about Jesus and our Catholic faith. The meetings are from 6:45pm - 8:30pm. I also invite you to open your Bible and to read the Gospels. Matthew is a good one for starters. It never fails to surprise me how many pearls are in the gospels that I have forgotten about. Happy Easter! Fr. Jaspers Fridays are now my primary day for appointments. I have given Kathy and Norma my appointment calendar for Fridays. The day is broken into 30 minute appointments: morning, afternoon, and evening. I m hoping this will serve your needs more effectively and eliminate some of the phone-tag. If you have a question that can be addressed in a few minutes on the phone, then just leave a message. Likewise, if Fridays are impossible, I ll have to call to schedule something. The classic joke is of course, But Father, I thought priests only work on Sunday. Please, know that I try to stay busy with the Lord and his people. It always kills me when I hear, I didn t call because you re so busy. If you have a need, call. But even before calling, pray! Recently, a person called and I was not able to answer for some reason. When I did call she said, Since you weren t available, I just started praying and, you know, the Lord took care of things, Father. Ultimately, the priest is just trying to help people in their relationship with God and to help them listen to the movements of the Holy Spirit. POPE FRANCIS PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR MARCH Universal: Families in Difficulty, That families in need may receive the necessary support and that children may grow up in healthy and peaceful environments. Evangelization: Persecuted Christians, That those Christians who, on account of their faith, are discriminated against or are being persecuted, may remain strong and faithful to the Gospel, thanks to the incessant prayer of the Church.
