3 READINGS FOR THE WEEK Prayer to the Mother of the Lord for all mothers Mary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, thank you for your "Yes" to the invitation of the angel which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God's word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Dear mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Divine Son to give them the grace of surrendered love so that they could join with you in giving their own "Fiat." May they find daily strength to say yes to the call to the sacrificial love- the very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love and witness be a source of great inspiration for all of us called to follow your Son. On this Mothers day, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us who have recourse to you. 4 Page 4 GETTING TO KNOW OUR ALTAR SERVERS We introduce a sister and brother who help serve our masses. Angelia is 12 yrs.old, attends middle school likes to read, arts and crafts. She also belongs to the MSJ Youth Group and has serve the table of the Lord for a year. Adam, her brother is 15 yrs. old and attends high school a member of the ROTC is a 2nd Lieutenant and member of the ROTC Orienteering Team. In his time, enjoys his PS4 and participates with the MSJ Youth Group. He too has been an Altar Server for one year. Thanks for serving at 5pm and 9am masses! San Joselito pray for us. VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER On Saturday, June 23rd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. we will have an appreciation dinner for all those who volunteered their time and effort to help make our Mission Fest a success. Due to the limited amount of seating in our parish center we ask that only those who volunteered RSVP by calling the office Please RSVP by June 15, Thanks again to all our dedicated volunteers!! FR. Please put the envelope part in the first collection. The poor in seventeen countries around the Caribbean are served including Mexico. The other weekends of the month he celebrates Masses and Confessions at MSJ. He will give a talk on Food for the Poor this weekend. Mass in the Streets on May 23 at 7pm Join the parish community as we take our faith from the church building out into the parish neighborhood. Our first 2018 Mass in the Street will be on Wednesday, May 23 at 7pm at the home of Carlos and Norma Cruz at 215 Kelly Drive San Antonio, TX All parishioners, friends, and family are welcome. Please bring chairs. Contact Deacon George for more information. Host families who live in the parish boundaries are needed for these summer faith events. Archbishop Appeal 2018 Our goal is $12, we have collected $8, Loving God, As missionary disciples, we are sent to bring the Good News of Jesus to everyone in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Strengthen our faith, deepen our hope, and help us to respond in love for others through the Archbishop s Appeal ministry. We are very grateful for the many gifts and blessings we have received. May your Holy Spirit inspire us to share a portion of these gifts and blessings with those who need our help through the 2018 Archbishop s Appeal. Fill our hearts with your truth and enduring love so that, united as a community of faith, we may show through our actions that we truly are disciples In the Spirit of Love. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen. Bar Code Thanks to Deacon George our Mission Church has a new way of sharing our history and mission. You will see in the front entrance and back a sign which has bar codes. All one has to do is to use a cell phone with a bar coder reader. Once it opens the tour begins. If you are interested you can download the bar code reader (free) on APPS. Thanks to Deacon George and his wife, Irene for all their work they did to create this window into our history. "Come Holy Spirit" Let us prepare ourselves for Pentecost this coming week. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts to continue to guide us and our Church. May the Holy Spirit be with you always!
