Chaplet of Divine Mercy April 7, 2019 Everyone is invited to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy following the 12:00 p.m. Mass this Sunday, April 7. We will meet in the Adoration Chapel immediately after Mass. 40 CANS FOR LENT FOOD DRIVE During Lent, you are invited to donate one can each day in solidarity with those who struggle to find their next meal. Your donation will assist the food pantry at the Guadalupe Community Center, our Parish Outreach Partner. Place your cans in one of the bins marked 40 Cans for Lent. Our Lady of Grace Annual Easter Egg Hunt Madonna Room Bryce Menchaca will be performing from 6:30-7:30 Bring a basket and join the fun right after 8:30 AM Mass on Easter Sunday! Egg donations (1-2 dozen illed plastic eggs) or monetary donations to purchase eggs may be dropped off at the Church Of ice. 3 The Sacred Paschal Triduum Celebrate the Easter Triduum, the days from Holy Thursday Evening to Easter Sunday Evening, which is celebrated as one great feast. This is the most solemn celebration of the Church. You are encouraged to be present and to participate in these special liturgies, which are the heart of our Catholic faith. Holy Week Schedule Palm Sunday of the Lord s Passion, April Mass Times: Saturday: 5:30 PM Sunday: 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:00 PM There will be an outdoor Procession with Palms at the 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM Masses. Thursday of the Lord s Supper, April 18 7:00 PM Mass of the Lord s Supper with Adoration following in Classrooms 3-5 until 12:00 AM This Liturgy recalls the institution of the Eucharist and the establishment of the Priesthood, as well as our call to serve one another. It will be followed by the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose for prayer and solemn Adoration. Friday of the Passion of the Lord, April 19 12:15 PM Celebration of the Lord s Passion & Veneration of the Cross 6:00 PM Stations of the Cross The Celebration of the Lord s Passion includes the Liturgy of the Word, Adoration of the Cross, and Holy Communion. Holy Saturday, April 20 8:30 PM Easter Vigil in the Holy Night In accord with ancient tradition, this night is one of vigil for the Lord. This will be the ONLY Mass celebrated this day. The Easter Vigil includes the Service of Light, Easter Proclamation, Liturgy of the Word, Celebration of Baptism, Renewal of our Baptismal Promises, Reception of Candidates into the Catholic Church, Celebration of Confirmation, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. GOD S ACTIONS NOW When the Jewish people celebrate the Passover, they always tell the story of the Exodus in present terms, as if they themselves experienced those events: when we were prisoners in Egypt; when God brought us out of slavery and through the waters of the sea. We would do well to follow this example and see the works of Jesus and his sacrifice as being in the present, as happening to us now. We believe that Christ s work, his teachings, and his sacrifice on the cross were not just for his followers in the past, but for all people at all times. When we think of this in our prayers, we become one in faith with that great cloud of witnesses, the Saints. We have been striving through Lent to repent of our sins and failings, and to follow Jesus more closely. Today in the story of the woman caught in adultery, we see Jesus forgiving the woman, saving her from a horrible death, and urging her not to sin any more. This was new, and brings out something for which the law had not allowed forgiveness. But Jesus introduces the concepts of forgiveness and reconciliation. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
