3 San Juan Capistrano Fr. Rogelio has been appointed pastor at San Juan Capistrano Mission effective October 1, A priest will be sent from the Franciscan Province of the Sacred Heart and become associate pastor to assist Fr. Rogelio. Fr. Rogelio will remain pastor here at San Jose. Thank you! We would like to thank everyone that helped cleanup around and across the street from our parish center. Thank you & God Bless you Always. Fr. Rogelio & Bro. Kevin La Historia de Mission San Jose The mesquite tree from bark to thorns to sap was used by the Coahuiltecans and others. It was the bean pod that provided the greatest benefit, as a food staple. The beans were usually harvested after they turned hard and golden, but they would also be eaten green. Both pods and seeds were ground into meal by the use of a metate or by digging a deep hole in the ground. The beans were thrown into the hole and pounded with a club until well mashed. The ground meal would then be sprinkled with water and formed into small round cakes which were eaten raw, fried like mush, or used to thicken stew. Today there is new interest in natural desert food, and mesquite bean flour can be purchased or, you can make your own. The flour is a good source of protein. Recipes are on the internet. 4 Page 4 Entrance Rites Liturgy of the Word Liturgy of the Eucharist Concluding Rites The Holy Mass has 4 parts In every mass we remember what Jesus did and said in the Last Supper and so Jesus becomes present when the priest says the words of consecration, the same words that Jesus pronounced this is my body.this is my blood. It is the Spirit of God who consecrates, makes holy the bread and wine and transforms them into the body and blood of Christ. If we can think of the mass as going up to a mountain, when we begin the mass we start climbing little by little and this moment of the consecration, when Jesus becomes Body and Blood in the bread and wine, is the peak of the mountain, the most important moment of the mass, and then we start to descend until the end when we are sent again into the world. For other Christian religions the bread and wine are just bread and wine, but for us Catholics they are really the Body and Blood our Jesus Christ. This is our belief and that is why people from other Christians Churches cannot take communion in our Church and we cannot take communion in their churches. It would be disrespectful and also dishonest because we would not be doing what Jesus told us when he said this is my body. this is my blood. To be continued next Sunday En cada Misa recordamos lo que Jesús hicieron y dijo en la última cena y así Jesús se hace presente cuando el sacerdote dice las palabras de la consagración, las mismas palabras que Jesús pronuncian... "Esto es mi cuerpo... esta es mi sangre". Es el espíritu de Dios que consagra, hace Santo el pan y el vino y las transforma en el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo. Si podemos pensar en la masa como subir a una montaña, cuando empezamos la masa que empezamos a subir poco a poco y este momento de la consagración, cuando Jesús se convierte en cuerpo y sangre en el pan y el vino, es el pico de la montaña, el momento más importante de la masa y luego comenzar a descender hasta el final cuando estamos enviados otra vez en el mundo. Para otras religiones cristianas el pan y el vino son sólo pan y vino, pero para nosotros los católicos son realmente el cuerpo y sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Esta es nuestra creencia y es por qué la gente de otras iglesias de los cristianos no puede hacer la comunión en nuestra iglesia y nosotros no podemos hacer la comunión en sus iglesias. Sería irrespetuoso y también deshonesto porque nosotros no estaría haciendo lo que Jesús nos dijo que cuando dijo "Esto es mi cuerpo... esta es mi sangre.

Archbishop Appeal 2018 Our goal is $12, we have collected $11, Archbishop appeal 2018 We have almost reached our goal, needing $1, We thank the 70 families who have helped us get to this point. If you have not yet contributed to the Archbishop Appeal 2018, we ask that you consider making a donation. Please pick up an envelope, we will even mail it for you. The appeal helps children and youth programs, St PJ children s home, pregnancy services, seminarians, catholic tv and radio, hospital pastoral services and much more. Religious Mission San Jose RCIA on Tuesdays at 7pm in the conference room of the parish office. Any adult who would like to receive sacraments, including baptism, please attend this inquiry session. CCD-Classes begin September 9. Stop by the parish office during regular business hours to enroll students. Adult Confirmation Classes will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6pm in the Conference Room of the parish offices for any adult 16+ who has received Baptism and First Holy Communion but still needs the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Confirmation liturgy will be Dec. 1 at 10am at St. Anthony Mary Claret Church.
