Ps. 98:1,2-3,3-4 THANK YOU! We all should be proud of what was accomplished this past weekend as we celebrated Mission Fest. Our parish was united as one family as we opened our doors and hearts to all our visitors. To all the volunteers who gave so much of their time and effort to help make this event so successful I say thank you. Your unselfish labor was one of love and commitment to San Jose. Special gratitude to Gracie Acura and her team for their leadership and dedicated service to help make this a record event. They spent many hours to plan, organize and to create a most memorable Mission Fest. We also give thanks to all our benefactors who contributed their time, talent and gifts. Most importantly we give praise and thanks to our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ who bestows all the good gifts we receive. May you all be blessed for all you do in His Name. Fr. 3 LOVE ONE ANOTHER In the Gospel for the Sixth Sunday of Easter we are met with an extraordinary challenge: Jesus commands us to love one another as I love you (John 15:12). The letter from John echoes this command. Of course, we are to love those in our family, those we work with, those we like. But the scriptures make clear that we are also to love those we never notice, those we purposely avoid, and even those we are tempted to despise. In this Sunday s selection from the Acts of the Apostles Peter shows us how far God s love extends, and how far our love should extend in response. Peter realizes that God no longer shows partiality to the Jews, sharing divine love exclusively with them. Christ has revealed that God s love extends to all people, and so should ours. This parish's Tabernacle is located behind the altar in the Retablo, so upon entering the church do we genuflect or bow? One is supposed to genuflect whenever one passes before the Blessed Sacrament reposed within a tabernacle (General Instruction of the Roman Missal 233). One is also supposed to give a bow of the body whenever one passes in front of the altar. If the Blessed Sacrament is in a Tabernacle on or near the altar, one genuflects and does not bow. Jesús nos dice: ámense unos a otros como yo los he amado (Juan 15:12). La carta del apóstol san Juan retoma este mandamiento. Por supuesto, debemos amar a nuestros familiares, nuestros colegas, las personas que nos agradan. Pero la Sagrada Escritura aclara que también debemos amar a los que ignoramos, a los que evitamos deliberadamente e incluso a los que nos sentimos tentados de despreciar. En la selección de los Hechos de los Apóstoles para este domingo, Pedro nos muestra hasta dónde llega el amor de Dios y hasta dónde debe llegar nuestra respuesta de amor. Pedro comprende que Dios ya no hace distinciones y no comparte su amor divino exclusivamente con los judíos. Cristo ha revelado que el amor de Dios llega a todas las personas y lo mismo debe hacer el nuestro. San Juan Climacus Last day for all Religious Education students is Sunday, May 6, GETTING TO KNOW OUR ALTAR SERVERS Get to know 2 sisters and a brother who serve together at the mass. Gabriela 14 attends middle school and with her team won a soccer championship, she also participates in theater arts. With her great smile she enjoys posing for pictures, loves journaling, listening to her favorite music and loves candies. Her sister Miranda, also attends middle school who will begin playing volleyball through the summer. She loves watching horror videos and taking care of Pax, her guinea pig. She is great at house hold chores according to Mom. Younger brother Ramon, is in elementary school. He loves the choir group, reading chapter books, playing video games and eating pizza. He helps Dad with outdoor chores. This family is in their 2nd year as Altar Servers. A family that prays together!
