PASTORAL CARE FOR THE SICK Please notify the Parish Center when a family member is ill, whether in the hospital or at home. Holy Communion will be brought regularly by appointment to those confined to the home. The sick or chronically ill should receive the Sacrament of Anointing. Tobin, C.Ss.R., the Archbishop of Newark, will be the main celebrant and homilist at Father John s Installation Mass on Friday, September 7th at 7:00 pm here at the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Fall Bereavement Support Group 2018 Finding Support after The Death of A Loved One The Bereavement Support Group sponsored by the Most Blessed Sacrament Church has planned for all persons grieving the death of a loved one, a seven consecutive week program that will begin on Thursday, September 6th and concludes Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center at MBS. A Note from Father John Thank You, Bishop Flesey Today, Sunday, August 5 th, our Parish gives thanks to God for the gift of the ministry of Bishop John W. Flesey who was the faithful shepherd of our parish for the last 14 years! Our spirits also rejoice with him on the 14 th anniversary of his episcopal ordination (August 4 th ). We are delighted that Bishop will remain in residence here and that he will continue to be a part of parish life through his celebration of the Eucharist and inspiring homilies. Oh, and by the way, Monday, August 6 th is the Bishop s birthday. Indeed, these early August days are very festive! Second Sunday Food Collection The first Sunday of the month we always announce that the following weekend is the Second Sunday Food Collection. Perhaps we listen to those words without taking a moment to reflect on just how important our donation is to this cause. Whether it is one can of food or a box of cereal or a bag filled with a variety of both, all of our contributions to this worthy cause are significant. The bags of food are delivered to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society located at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hackensack. The food pantry helps feed the poor in the Hackensack-Teaneck area. It is located at the Hill House on Clinton Street behind the church. We are grateful to our two angels who deliver the food each month to the pantry: May Ragukonis and Rim Kostic. Both are our parishioners and parents of alumnae from our very own Academy of the Most Blessed Sacrament. If you have not contributed something to the food pantry in the past, perhaps start participating next weekend. Many thanks! 2018 Sharing God s Blessings: The Archbishop s Annual Appeal Through your generosity, we have surpassed (in pledges) our 2018 AAA goal. The goal was $95,837. We have in pledges $103,170 with 258 families participating. Now the work of the parish is to make sure those pledges are honored. To date, we have received $84, 042 toward those pledges. There is a balance to be collected of $19,128. If all pledges are fulfilled, then Most Blessed Sacrament Parish will receive 62% of all funds received over our assigned goal. At this point, that would mean MBS would receive a rebate check in the amount of $4,546. We have included this amount as anticipated revenue in our fiscal 2019 budget. Thank You for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation. Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family, and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to You this summer. Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence, and light my path with Your Word and Counsel. As I enjoy Your creation, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You. ALL BOOKS AND ONLINE WORK NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED BY MARCH 5TH. Confirmation Candidates Registration for Confirmation candidates for 2019 was ed several weeks ago. There are still openings in the 9:00 am-12:30 pm August session and the Fall session. Spaces are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please register ASAP. We are in the process of ordering supplies and securing teachers for the program. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a formation process for those seeking to become Catholic and for those Catholics wishing to complete their Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Eucharist). The Most Blessed Sacrament RCIA begins a new formation year in October. Join with others who are interested in learning about Catholic Christianity as we explore who we are, what we believe, how we pray, and how we live our lives as a community of believers. If you are interested in learning more about RCIA at Most Blessed Sacrament, contact Father John Job at x 280. CCD REGISTRATION Grades 1-8 CCD Registration forms were ed several weeks ago. May 1 st was the registration deadline. For families registering after August 1st, all children will be put on Home Study unless you are a new family to the parish or have a 2 nd grader. Many of our parish families are planning to get away for some summer fun and relaxation in the next few months. We pray that your vacation time will be safe and a source of many happy memories. However, please do not take your parish offering with you. Each summer our parish office struggles to juggle the bills as Sunday offerings decrease significantly.
