PASTORAL CARE FOR THE SICK Please notify the Parish Center when a family member is ill, whether in the hospital or at home. Holy Communion will be brought regularly by appointment to those confined to the home. The sick or chronically ill should receive the Sacrament of Anointing. 2 Page Two October 21, 2018 The R.C.I.A. These four letters stand for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is a faith journey for adults desiring to become full members of the Catholic Church. Through a gradual process of prayer, faith sharing, study, and rituals, the R.C.I.A. process prepares people for full initiation within the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and/or Eucharist. The R.C.I.A. process is designed especially for: Adults never baptized who might desire to become a Catholic. Adults baptized in another Christian church who might desire to become a Catholic. Adults baptized Catholic who have not received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Please note that one of the qualifications to be a baptismal godparent or Confirmation sponsor is that he/she is a fully initiated Catholic, i.e., the person has received the Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Attend an information session on Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 pm or on Saturday, October 20th at 10:00 am. Please contact Fr. The Community of Most Blessed Sacrament looks forward to sharing and celebrating this journey of faith with you! 2018 Sharing God s Blessings: The Archbishop s Annual Appeal Through your generosity, we have surpassed (in pledges) our 2018 AAA goal. The goal was $95,837. We have in pledges of $105,070 with 262 families participating. Now the work of the parish is to make sure those pledges are honored. To date, we have received $89,378 toward those pledges. There is a balance to be collected of $15,692. If all pledges are fulfilled, then Most Blessed Sacrament Parish will receive 62% of all funds received over our assigned goal. At this point, that would mean MBS would receive a rebate check from the Archdiocese of Newark in the amount of $5,724. We have included this amount as anticipated income in our fiscal 2019 budget. Our Annual Celebration of All Souls Mass Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm All Are Invited All are invited Friday, November 2nd to pray for our deceased family and friends. This is a beautiful way to remember your loved ones. The Church in her wisdom celebrates this Feast each year to celebrate our deceased. In that spirit, we invite you to inscribe the names of those you wish for us to remember and pray for on All Souls Day and during the Masses throughout the month on the special All Souls envelopes. Envelopes have been included in the mailing, and they are also available in the Church narthex. Please place your envelopes in the collection basket or in the basket near the Book of Remembrance located near the Paschal Candle. Help Us To Help Thy Dear Neighbor! The MBS Associates of the Sisters of Saint Joseph will be holding their annual coat drive the weekend of November 3rd and 4th. Please bring the coats with you to Mass, or you can drop them off at the Parish Center porch during the week prior or after the weekend collection. Thank you for your support!

As we welcome the autumn months, may the earlier setting of the sun remind us to take time to rest. May the brilliant colors of the leaves remind us of the wonder of your creation. May the steam of our breath in the cool air remind us that it is you who give us the breath of life. May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and bounty we are to share with others. Each day features DVD sessions that cover topics of shock, denial, anger, grief, guilt, forgiveness and much more. The itinerary includes video presentations and small group discussions. Participants will hear personal testimonies of Catholic men and women who have experienced the breakdown of their families who witness to the healing power of Christ in their lives. Sessions run Saturday mornings on Oct 27, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1 between 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Each session will cover different topics & discussions. Cost to attend is $20 including study guide & food. Don Bosco Prep Opens Its 13th Season Of Chapel Concerts with Voices of Victory Gospel Choir Season will open on Saturday, November 3 at 7:30 pm in the Mary Help of Christians Chapel in St. John s Hall, with St. John s University s Voices of Victory. Under the direction of award-winning founding conductor Nigel W. Gretton, Voices of Victory, organized in 1988, is the official gospel choir of St. John s University. The choir serves as a uniting force in the university community through the ministry of gospel music. Voices of Victory has been featured in New York s famed Carnegie Hall, HBO, NBC, FOX Network, Telecare--the Christian Network, and Warner Brothers Records. 10 Please Remember Those In Need Thanksgiving Baskets Ways to Contribute to This Annual Project 1. We will be collecting gift cards to distribute with baskets so each family can choose what is best for their Thanksgiving dinner. Donations of major supermarket gift cards valuing at least $20.00-$25.00 would be appreciated. 2. There will be a box for the gift cards and cash donations, on the Thanksgiving table in the narthex (foyer) of the church. 3. Parishioners who would like to donate non-perishable goods, please take a list of suggested food from the basket on the table in the narthex (foyer) of the church. Items that are needed: canned vegetables, canned yams, cranberry sauce, boxed mashed potatoes, Jell-O or pudding mix, cake mix and frosting, gravy, stuffing mix, and soups. 4. Please bring your food donations and any other donations or contributions by Sunday, November 18th. 5. We will purchase all fresh produce and bread on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the day of distribution. Your cash donations help pay for these items. 6. Baskets will be assembled in the school cafeteria on Monday, November 19th and Tuesday, November 20th at 9:00 am. Anyone wishing to help is welcome! This year the Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce has graciously offered to contribute to Most Blessed Sacrament s Thanksgiving Basket Project.
