El Salvador Education & Development Fund fundelsalvador@yahoo.com Once again you came through with overwhelming generosity for the college students at the orphanage in El Salvador. We are so grateful for your support. The money we raise for education and related expenses is the only source of funds for supporting the education of these students. We are very close to having raised enough for the nine tuitions we will send in late December for the beginning of the new school year in January Every donation and every prayer makes a difference. The sisters are very grateful for your support and pray continually for our parish. Thank you! Emil and Kathie Grosso Dear Brothers and Sisters at MBS, I am so happy to hear of your continued great generosity once again this year toward the children and college students of the Aldea Infantil San Antonio Catholic Orphanage in El Salvador through the recent parish appeal and collection. I am so sorry I cannot be there to thank you in person! However, I do hope to be at the Aldea Infantil at Christmas with a group of American seminarians, and I will be able to greet all the children for you and tell them once again of your great generosity! May God continue to bless you today and always, and may we always recall the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew that the Sisters at the Aldea take as their motto: "Whatever you do for these least ones, you do for me!" 5 Page Five October 16, 2016 It's finally time! Our opening weekend is here and we're jumping in with both feet! Confirmation classes begin tonight, Sunday, at 6:00 pm in the AMBS Cafeteria with a parent meeting while our teens are in class. Be sure to be there to have all of your questions answered, pick up any necessary forms and hear all of the details of our program in person. Youth Group kicks off from 7:30-9:00 pm this Sunday in the Youth Room in the basement of the Parish Center. All high school aged teens are welcome! Bring a friend! The Most Blessed Sacrament RCIA begins a new formation year in October. Join with others who are interested in learning about Catholic Christianity as we explore who we are, what we believe, how we pray, and how we live our lives as a community of believers. As we embrace these autumn months, may the earlier setting of the sun remind us to take time to rest. May the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet remind us of the brevity of this earthly life. May the steam of our breath in the cool air remind us that it is you who give us your breath of life. First Communion The Annual Pottery Retreat for First Communion Candidates and their families was held on Sunday, October 2nd and it was a spiritual and artistic success. Over one hundred children and adults participated in an interactive retreat about Penance and Eucharist. Ray Boswell, from Sugar Loaf, New York did the multimedia presentation on his potter's wheel demonstrating the concepts of sin, forgiveness, and the precious gift of the body and blood of Christ. The children and parents then decorated a special blessing cup for communion. What a great day! Attention Junior High Home Study Students! I hope you are enjoying the beginning of our fall season. Cooler weather, and unfortunately, shorter days! This is just a REMINDER that all of your home study work is due by December 13 th! Most of you are working diligently, and a few of you have already completed your work!! However, my inbox on my computer is not nearly as full as it should be! Where are the rest of the students who should be working? The online chapter reviews are ed to me and the completed book must be dropped off to me in the Religious Education Office in the Parish Center by the December deadline. FEMALE Performers Needed at St. Joseph Regional HS The Nationally Recognized Performing Arts Program of St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey and winner of the 2016 Paper Mill Award for Most Educational Impact by a High School Show is looking for High School females to be part of its 2017 school musical - "WEST SIDE STORY. Auditions will take place beginning on Oct 17 th (7 PM), Oct 18 th (7 PM) and Oct 19 th (6 and 7:30 PM). You need only attend one of these auditions. Rehearsals, which begin in mid November, will take place on Sunday afternoons and one or two nights a week. WEST SIDE STORY will be performed Jan 25 th through Feb 4 th. All interested should come to St Joseph Regional H.S. located at 40 Chestnut Ridge Rd. prepared to sing bars from a song of their choice (Classical Broadway post 1950 with accompanying sheet music ). Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco. It is an extraordinary year of blessings and one during which you might want to consider making a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother by hosting Our Lady of Fatima Pilgrim Statue in your home for a week. As a means of background, St. Elizabeth's Church in Wyckoff has 5 traveling statues of Our Lady of Fatima. For over 20 years, Our Blessed Mother's statues have been traveling from home to home...visiting with our families. Although this ministry began with a single statue, it has grown to 5 statues. How pleased Our Blessed Mother must be...to be welcomed into our homes and to bestow her many blessings upon her children! As you know, Our Lady of Fatima asked Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco to pray the Rosary daily, and to do penance for the salvation of souls. And today, to you and me, Our Lady's message is the same. And so, while the Blessed Mother is in your home, we ask that you try to pray the Holy Rosary (or other devotional prayers to Our Lady) and to perform other tokens of love for the salvation of souls. The birth certificate will include the names of the birth parents who placed children for adoption unless a birth parent requests their name be omitted. Birth parents who wish to preserve their privacy must submit a Redaction Request Form to the New Jersey Department of Health no later than December 31, The Redaction Request Form can be obtained by calling , ext. 582 or downloading it at nj.gov/health/forms/reg-36c.pdf. The Catholic Church has always supported reunions between adoptees and birth parents, if such reunions were by mutual consent. The Church continues to do so through their Catholic Charities agencies.
