This year s celebration will begin with Mass at St. Paul Cathedral on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 2:30 PM (note time change). Bishop David Zubik will be the Celebrant. A reception will follow in the lower hall at the Cathedral. If you are one of the couples celebrating your 50th anniversary in 2012, and would like to receive an invitation to this event, please call the parish office ( ) or drop a note in the collection basket at Mass no later that August 5, BAPTISMAL PROGRAM FOR NEW AND EXPECTING PARENTS There will NOT be a Baptismal Class in July. The camp is a collaborative effort of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Father Ryan Arts Center, MGR Foundation and ACE Pay It Forward Foundation. The camp s theme will revolve around the Family Pledge of Nonviolence as outlined by Families Against Violence Advocacy Network: to respect self and others, communicate and listen more effectively, forgive, act with courage, respect nature, and play creatively. STEEPLE CHASE STEELER FOOTBALL POOL It is that time of the year again...football SEASON and the STEEPLE CHASE FOOTBALL POOL The pool will include 16 regular season games beginning September 9 against the Broncos. There are 100 blocks per game. The payout per game: $100 at half-time, $150 the final score. The total cost for all 16 games is $80 or $5 per game. One payment of $80 is due on or before August 28, or two payments, $40 by August 28, 2012 and final $40 due by October 9, You will retain the same block for each game. The numbers for each game will be drawn in advance; therefore, your numbers will be different each week. You will receive the completed pool for all of the 16 games prior to September 9. A total of only 100 squares are available. Purchase a single square or partner with your neighbor, mom, dad, friend or pew buddy to buy one or more. They make great gifts too! Lou Vallone I was at several meetings last week along with some brother priests, listening to guys saying how happy they were that it was summer and things had slowed down for them. What slowdown? The only thing that has fallen off is Church attendance since summer began. Although this is understandable, with vacations and all, it is not a condition we want to become habit with anyone. Therefore, consider this: TEN little Christians came to church all the time; one fell out with the priest: then there were nine. NINE little Christians stayed up late; one overslept on Sunday: then there were eight. EIGHT little Christians on their way to heaven; one took the low road: then there were seven. SEVEN little Christians chirping like a chick; one didn't like the music: then there were six. SIX little Christians seemed very much alive; one got "travelitis": then there were five. FIVE little Christians pulling for heaven's shore; one stopped to rest a while: then there were four. FOUR little Christians, each busy as a bee; one got his feelings hurt: then there were three. THREE little Christians couldn't decide what to do; one couldn't have his way: then there were two. TWO little Christians - each won one more; add them up - two times two make four! FOUR little Christians worked early and late; each one brought one: now there were eight! EIGHT little Christians, if they decide as before, in just seven Sundays we'd have 1024!
