5 The Pastor s Cornered 9th Edition I guess I should be honored to be back in this spot once again. It at least illustrates that the Pastor does have a sense of humor and hasn t been offended by the small jabs taken at him in this column during his past absences. However, most of the material written here is pretty spontaneous and is usually connected to either an observation or event that has recently occurred. I don t think any of it is that noteworthy to have excerpts appear as famous quotes years down the road, but none the less it gives the Pastor a break while he is off taking care of other business or, on the rare occasion, vacationing away from us! I am amazed at how many people look forward to reading The Pastor s Corner. Some people actually admit to being addicted to it and cannot wait to get their hands on the next bulletin. People say they like reading what is on the Pastor s mind. They say it gives them a chance to feel a little more connected to our Pastor whom we have to share with another parish. People actually even write responses to our Pastor either commenting on his Corner or to answer the rhetorical questions he has asked. It has even been suggested that the Pastor compose a memoir of all the past Pastor s Corner s - a living history of his personal experiences. That, however, would take a lot of time and energy - continued next column... something a Modern Pastor does not enjoy until, typically, they are able to retire. A few have even predicted it would be a best seller. I, on the other hand, don t comprehend why people would want to re-read what has already been read. It hasn t changed. It s still the same amusing story or informative statistics that still add up to the same numbers. But then the fundraiser part of my brain takes over and realizes if people are willing to pay for what they already received free of cost (and can still access on our parish website) maybe we can turn this book into a Steeple Chase Fundraiser and not only raise a few more crosses, but hold a private autograph event in the Newly Remodeled Church Hall and pay off the debt as well. Does anybody have the number to a good publisher?
