3 PARISH NEWS SUNDAY FLOWERS One bouquet at the Main Altar was donated in memory of John Turczyn by wife Elsie. The other bouquet at the Main Altar was donated in memory of Kitty Bartone by Elsie Turczyn. The bouquet at the BVM Shrine was donated in thanksgiving for Divine Mercy. MARY S TEA The Sodality will be hosting Mary s Tea today, April 29 th from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the parish hall. It is a day for all women to honor our Blessed Mother. There are no longer tickets available Mary s Tea has been sold out! Guests are reminded to bring their tea cups and to wear their hats. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Everyone is invited to join in the all-day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which is offered on the last Monday of each month. Our next Eucharistic Adoration will be held tomorrow, Monday, April 30 th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at 7:30 a.m. and will remain exposed for adoration until 7:30 p.m. followed by the St. Jude Novena and Benediction. The Rosary will be prayed in common at 7:00 p.m. Come and spend some time before our Lord! MONDAY ROSARY The next Monday Rosary will be held tomorrow, Monday, April 30 th at 7:00 p.m. to pray the Sorrowful Mysteries. All are welcome to join in the prayer. PRE-JORDAN Parents and godparents presenting a child for Baptism need to attend a preparation class in order to be properly informed about the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism. The next class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 nd at 6:00 p.m. in the last classroom in the parish hall. Registration is a must. Please register in advance by calling Mrs. Coxson at Please do not assume any date for baptism before confirming the date with Father Brennan. Before any date can be finalized, all forms and eligibility letters need to be delivered to the rectory. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION First Holy Communion will be celebrated next Saturday, May 5 th at 10:00 a.m. Members of this year s First Holy Communion class should report to the hall by 9:30 a.m. We invite anyone who wishes to attend this Mass to feel welcome to do so. More so, we encourage you to pray for those who will be celebrating the Holy Eucharist for the first time. May God continue to help them grow in the ways of the faith and help them to remain close to Jesus every day of their lives
4 HAPPY BIRTHDAY People say the older you get, the wiser you become. If that s the case then Father Ferrence is probably one of the smartest! We would like to wish Father Ferrence a Happy 92 nd Birthday on his upcoming big day this May 8 th!! Our prayers and best wishes are for him!! We encourage all students to attend the May Procession held next Sunday, May 6 th. The last class session will be today, Sunday, April 29 th. The PREP students will sit as a class at the 10:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 6 th. After Mass, the students will participate in the May Procession. The First Communion and Confirmation Classes should wear their sacramental robes. This is the last PREP class for the year. This year s program has been a smooth and terrific year. If anyone is interested in volunteering for our next year s program, please call our PREP directors, Paul Friel ( ) or Jackie Townsley ( ). Registration forms for next year s classes ( ) are now available on the tables at the church entrance ways. Early registration (before the end of June) is appreciated and strongly recommended. Your help enables us to order books and supplies early enough not to have to pay a higher fee. If you choose to delay in registering your child(ren), we will pass on our late fees to you. Early registration deadline is July 1 st. Again, your cooperation is appreciated. SPECIAL NOTICE Parents who are anticipating their children receiving First Penance or First Communion this coming year (2019), please mark your calendar NOW with the following date: Thursday, September 13 th 7:00 p.m. Parish Hall Information on how to enroll in the Sacrament Program along with important dates will be presented at this meeting. Sister Sheila will integrate humor, prayer and God s plan for those who are seeking forgiveness and the ability to forgive. A League of the Sacred Heart Retreat will be held on May 1 3. It will be directed by Msgr. Michael Mannion. Matt Talbot #66 Retreat will be held on May 4-6. This is a spiritual retreat for recovering alcoholics. All Young Adults are invited to a special Prayer and Praise under the Stars from May This retreat will be a beautiful prayer experience. 6 MAY PROCESSION Sunday May 6 Our annual May Day Procession to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary will be held Sunday, May 6 th immediately after the 10:45 a.m. Mass. All our parishioners are invited to participate in this traditional observance in honor of our Lady. Sodality members, Holy Name Society members, all the Altar Servers (vested), all the children in our PREP program or attending Catholic school and this years First Communion and Confirmation class (in robes) are strongly encouraged to participate. We hope to see all the members of the parish for the procession and the crowning of Mary s statue. All 6 th through 12 th graders are invited to be in the May Procession Court. Please meet in the back of church at 10:15 a.m. for a quick rehearsal. Girls should wear their Sunday Best and boys should wear a tie and jacket
