3 PARISH NEWS ROSARY CAFE Rosary Café will be serving coffee, tea and conversation today, Sunday, April 22 nd from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. in the church hall. All are invited to take advantage of this great opportunity to mingle, chat and enjoy a cup before heading home. MONDAY ROSARY The next Monday Rosary will be held tomorrow, Monday, April 23 rd at 7:00 p.m. to pray the Luminous Mysteries. All are welcome to join in the prayer. TEEN LIFE & JR. CYO Today, Sunday, April 22 nd, the Teen Life and Jr. CYO groups will meet from 11:45 to 1:00 p.m. for a taco party. The Teen Music Group will sing at the 10:45 a.m. Mass. Next Sunday, April 29 th, the Teen Life and Jr. CYO will meet for Miniature Golf at 12:15 p.m. There will be no music practice. SODALITY The Sodality will host a Covered Dish meeting in the hall this Tuesday, April 24 th at 5:00 p.m. AN INVITATION TO ALL WOMEN The Sodality will be hosting Mary s Tea next Sunday, April 29 th at noon in the parish hall. It is a day for all women to honor our Blessed Mother. Tea sandwiches, salad, desserts and, of course, tea will be served amid prayer and music. We are encouraging participants to wear spring or summer hats as well as, to bring your own tea cup. There are no longer tickets available Mary s Tea has been sold out! EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Everyone is invited to join in the all-day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which is offered on the last Monday of each month. Our next Eucharistic Adoration will be held on Monday, April 30 th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at 7:30 a.m. and will remain exposed for adoration until 7:30 p.m. followed by the St. Jude Novena and Benediction. The Rosary will be prayed in common at 7:00 p.m. Come and spend some time before our Lord! Any parish children (4 th grade or above) who would like to offer their service to God and our parish in this special ministry are invited to complete a form and return it to Father Brennan. THANK YOU The Holy Communion class did a wonderful job collecting, sorting and packing diapers and baby bottles for CCWS and Birthright crisis pregnancy centers here in Coatesville. They prayed for the unborn and all babies during class. We extend our appreciation to the First Holy Communion Class and those who donated to this worthy cause. REGISTRATION Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic Elementary School is now taking registration for 2018/2019 school year for children 3 years of age through 8 th grade. 4 PREP Our PREP program will end this year s session with the May Procession. We encourage all students to attend the May Procession. The last class session will be on Sunday, April 29 th. The PREP students will sit as a class at the 10:45 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 6 th. After Mass, the students will participate in the May Procession. The First Communion and Confirmation Classes should wear their sacramental robes. This is the last PREP class for the year. This year s program has been a smooth and terrific year. If anyone is interested in volunteering for our next year s program, please call our PREP directors, Paul Friel ( ) or Jackie Townsley ( ). Registration forms for next year s classes ( ) are now available on the tables at the church entrance ways. Early registration (before the end of June) is appreciated and strongly recommended. Your help enables us to order books and supplies early enough not to have to pay a higher fee. If you choose to delay in registering your child(ren), we will pass on our late fees to you. Early registration deadline is July 1 st. Again, your cooperation is appreciated. FAMILIES OF 6 TH GRADERS All area 6 th graders and families are invited to Bishop Shanahan High School for a Seek 2018 on Saturday, May 12 th from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. This festival involves an amazing day filled with faith, friends and fun and is completely free. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION There will be a practice for the First Holy Communion class next Saturday, April 28 th at 9:00 a.m. First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5 th at 10:00 a.m. Members of this year s First Holy Communion class should report to the hall by 9:30 a.m. We invite anyone who wishes to attend this Mass to feel welcome to do so. More so, we encourage you to pray for those who will be celebrating the Holy Eucharist for the first time. May God continue to help them grow in the ways of the faith and help them to remain close to Jesus every day of their lives. MAY PROCESSION Our annual May Day Procession to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary will be held Sunday, May 6 th following the 10:45 a.m. Mass. All our parishioners are urged to participate in this traditional observance in honor of our Lady. Sodality members, Holy Name Society members, all the Altar Servers, all the children in our PREP program (3 year nursery to 12 th grade) or attending Catholic schools and this years Communion and Confirmation class (in robes) are strongly encouraged to participate. We hope to see all the members of the parish for the procession and the crowning of Mary s statue. This is a wonderful way to honor Mary, the Mother of God and Patroness of our parish. 5 PRE-JORDAN Parents and godparents presenting a child for Baptism need to attend a preparation class in order to be properly informed about the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism. The next class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 nd at 6:00 p.m. in the last classroom in the parish hall. Registration is a must. 6 World Day of Prayer for Vocations Today, April 22 nd, the universal Catholic Church observes the 55 th Annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations. By setting aside this day, the church publicly reminds each of us our need to pray so that Our Lord may send laborers into his harvest (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). This year, the message from Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, is: Listening, Discerning, and Living the Lord s Call. Pope Francis focuses his message on Jesus own mission and his visit to the synagogue of Nazareth. He listened to the word, discerned the content of the mission entrusted to him by the Father, and proclaimed that He came to accomplish it today (Lk 4:16-21). Prayer for Vocations O Lord, my God, You renew the Church in every age by raising up priests outstanding in holiness, living witnesses of Your unchanging love. In your plan for our salvation, You provide shepherds for your people. Fill the hearts of young men with the spirit of courage and love that they may answer Your call generously. Give parents the grace to encourage vocations in their family by prayer and good example. Raise up worthy priests for Your altars and ardent, but gentle servants of the Gospel. Give the Church more priests and keep them faithful in their love and service. May many young men choose to serve You by devoting themselves to the service of Your people. Mary, Mother of the Church, Model of Vocations, instill radiant joy in the hearts of our priests and religious as they witness to their vocational call. Amen. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Amen. Inspired with confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother; to you do I come before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Amen.
