3 PARISH NEWS OPPORTUNITIES Come and pray with Me. Accepting Christ s invitation, celebrating Holy Week and Easter in an especially prayerful spirit, we move with Christ from death to life, from darkness to light, from sorrow to joy. May all of us know new life, new hope, new peace this Holy Week and this Easter! MASS for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be held at 6:00 p.m. There will be no morning Mass. HOLY THURSDAY: Mass of the Lord s Supper will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. followed by a procession to the repository. Adoration at the repository will be held after the procession until Midnight. Remember to stay quiet when leaving church after Mass. GOOD FRIDAY: Celebration of the Passion, Communion and Adoration of the Cross will be held at 3:00 p.m. Stations and Veneration of the Cross will be held at 6:00 p.m. HOLY SATURDAY: Blessing of the Food will be at 11:00 a.m. in the church. The Easter Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. There will be no confession or 5:00 p.m. Mass. PLEASE NOTE: There is no morning Mass this Holy Week. EASTER SUNDAY: Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. HOLY THURSDAY The celebration of the Lord s Supper on Holy Thursday concludes with a procession of transfer of the Blessed Sacrament to the Repository. This Holy Thursday, we are inviting everyone who will be in church that evening to join in the procession we offer a special invitation to all the children of the parish to join with Jesus as part of this wonderful celebration. Children are asked to wear their Sunday Best. All Altar Servers are also invited to take a special role in this service and be vested in your serving robes. Altar Servers should vest and report to the Baptism area and quietly wait for directions from Father Brennan. MARK YOUR CALENDAR Your help will be needed after the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, March 30 th. Stations of the Cross will be held at 6:00 p.m. You are invited to join in decorating the church for Easter. Your talent is always welcome! PALM SUNDAY BAKE SALE The Sodality will host a Bake Sale this weekend, March 24/25. All are invited to stop in the hall after Mass to pick up delicious baked goodies before heading home. EASTER EGG HUNT The Teen Life and Jr. CYO Groups will host an Easter Egg Hunt today, Sunday, March 25 th at 12:30 p.m. All children ages 12 years old and younger are welcome to join in the fun. Please meet in the hall. EASTER FLOWERS If you wish to donate flowers for our Easter Sunday decorations, please call the rectory. If possible, a donation of $20 would be appreciated. TEEN LIFE & JR. CYO The Teen Life and Jr. CYO will meet in the hall today, Sunday, March 25 th at 11:45 a.m. to set up for the Easter Egg Hunt. NOW AVAILABLE Registration forms for new altar servers are available on the bulletin boards at the church entranceways. Any parish children (4 th grade or above) who would like to offer their service to God and our parish in this special ministry are invited to complete a form and return it to Father Brennan no later than March 31 st. HEADS UP!! For the past two years, on Palm Sunday, people have been in our parking lot soliciting funds from parishioners on the way into and out of Mass. These folks do not have any permission to do so, and is more likely a scam. You can feel free to tell them they need to speak to the pastor, or that you contribute to help the needy by the way of St. Vincent de Paul collection or by the poor boxes in church. Our advise is not to support such requests in the way they would have you do so

4 AN INVITATION TO ALL WOMEN The Sodality will be hosting Mary s Tea on Sunday, April 29 th at noon in the parish hall. It is a day for all women to honor our Blessed Mother. Tea sandwiches, salad, desserts and, of course, tea will be served amid prayer and music. We are encouraging participants to wear spring or summer hats as well as, bringing your own tea cup. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for girls under the age of twelve. Forms for the purchase of tickets are located on the entrance tables in church. Please bring the completed form with you when purchasing tickets. Ticket sales will begin in Rosary Hall after all the Masses this weekend, March 24/25. If you are unable to purchase your ticket in person, please mail your completed form to Debbie Gottshall along with the appropriate amount. Checks should be made out to the Congrega. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Everyone is invited to join in the all-day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which is offered on the last Monday of each month. Our next Eucharistic Adoration will be held tomorrow Monday, March 26 th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at 8:00 a.m. and will remain exposed for adoration until 5:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. followed by the St. Jude Novena and Benediction at 6:40 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed in common at 7:00 p.m. Come and spend some time before our Lord! 5 PRE-JORDAN Parents and godparents presenting a child for Baptism need to attend a preparation class in order to be properly informed about the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism. The next class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 nd at 6:00 p.m. in the last classroom in the parish hall. Registration is a must. Please register in advance by calling Mrs. Coxson at Please do not assume any date for baptism before confirming the date with Father Brennan. Before any date can be finalized, all forms and eligibility letters need to be delivered to the rectory. MONDAY ROSARY The next Monday Rosary will be held tomorrow, Monday, March 26 th at 7:00 p.m. to pray the Luminous Mysteries. All are welcome to join in the prayer. LENTEN PROJECT Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward Psalm 127:3 This year our PREP s First Holy Communion Class will be helping our little brothers and sisters in Christ. This Lenten project will be focusing on Lenten sacrifices, prayer and good deeds and how to carry them out with Love! The First Holy Communion Class will be collecting new baby bottles and diapers (size 1 4). The donations will be delivered to our local pro-life pregnancy centers after Easter Sunday. CCWS and Birthright of Coatesville are both wonderful pregnancy care centers. They promote life, help new mothers find workable solutions and face the future with dignity and hope. The First Holy Communion Class is asking for your help. A table will be in the hall accepting all donations! We encourage all students to attend the May Procession. The last class session will be on Sunday, April 29 th. ROSARY CAFE Rosary Café will be serving coffee, tea and conversation on Sunday, April 22 nd from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. in the church hall. All are invited to take advantage of this great opportunity to mingle, chat and enjoy a cup before heading home. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION All necessary paperwork and forms should be turned into the rectory immediately. There will be a practice for the First Holy Communion class on Saturday, April 28 th at 9:00 a.m. First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5 th at 10:00 a.m. Members of this year s First Holy Communion class should report to the hall by 9:30 a.m. We invite anyone who wishes to attend this Mass to feel welcome to do so. More so, we encourage you to pray for those who will be celebrating the Holy Eucharist for the first time. May God continue to help them grow in the ways of the faith and help them to remain close to Jesus every day of their lives. GOLF OUTING Pope John Paul II Catholic Regional Elementary School will host their 7 th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Outing at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15 th at the Ron Jaworski s Downingtown Country Club. All proceeds will benefit the tuition assistance program for PJPII students. TRANSFER GRANTS AVAILABLE Transfer to Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic Elementary School and receive up to $1500 in transfer grants. 6 You are invited to an afternoon celebration of the FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY Sunday, April 8 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament following 10:45 Mass Singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet 3:00 p.m. followed by Benediction Jesus said to St. Faustina, I want this image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy (Diary, 490). On that day, the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment (Diary, 699). Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy (Diary 300). Jesus asked that the Divine Mercy Sunday be preceded by a Novena to Divine Mercy, which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena. What is Divine Mercy Chaplet? Jesus gave St. Faustina the words to pray for mercy following along the beads of the rosary. Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Booklets for the Divine Mercy Novena and Chaplet are available on the tables near the doors to the church. Please take one home today and begin your novena on Good Friday.
