6 FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DIED, AND THOSE FOR WHOM FLOWERS ARE GIVEN TODAY The flowers on the alar are in loving Betty Jones from Bob Jones and family. SPECIAL INTENTIONS Pray for Preston our Rector, as he begins ministry among us this week. Help us to embrace our role of working together with him, and, with God s direction and guidance, to further and reinvigorate our mutual mission and ministry, in our neighbourhood, and in the wider community. Pray for our neighbours, members of our community, who live in poverty, and with addiction, homelessness, lack of employment, and lack of self-worth. Help us find ways to be kind and gracious neighbours to them. Pray for the ministries of our parish, that we may grow together in witness to God s goodness, and find new ways to invite members of our community to be a part of all we do. Parish Notices Our St. John s Community This week in Church School we continue exploring the story of Peter and Cornelius (Acts 10:1-48), a vision Peter had, and how two people from very different backgrounds are brought together because of their love for Jesus. We remember that everyone is a child of God; we thank God for all people, all places, and all cultures. To think about: In our service we often say, "We, being many, are one body, because we all share in the one bread". How do you share God's love with people with whom you disagree? Memorial Candles Your help is needed to maintain this much used benefit. The costs of the candles, like everything else, has increased. If you light one candle a week for a year, the cost is almost $20. Your donations would be greatly appreciated. Envelopes are available in the Narthex, cheques should be made payable to the church Donations A reminder that donations must be received in the church office (mail it early!!) by noon on Dec.30. ACW Meeting will be Monday, November 19 th in the Fireside Room. Pudding Factory Evaluation Meeting We will be meeting to discuss this year s pudding factory, November 28 th at 1:30pm in the Fireside Room. All are welcome.

7 On Eagle s Wings The next issue of On Eagles Wings will be published on Sunday, November 25th. Notices, articles, news items and letters need to be submitted to Sarah Guthrie by Tuesday, November 20th for this forthcoming issue. You may send items to Sarah by sarah.guthrie@gmail.com or drop them off in the OEW mailbox in the Narthex FundScrip in November and December 2018 Due to the omission of a FundScrip Sunday during October we will be submitting two orders before Christmas to give parishioners opportunity to purchase gift cards and stocking stuffers for the season. This Sunday 18th November and then again on Sunday 9th December. Orders can be placed with Pamela Fisher after the 8:00 service and during coffee hour after the 10:00 o clock service. Please remember to bring your cheque books or some cash to order your gift cards. If any member of the congregation would be interested in assisting me with this ministry, please let me know at church or me at nikwardc@gmail.com Rheo Thompson Mint Smoothies are back! Leading up to Christmas the A.C.W. will be selling Rheo Thompson Mint Smoothies (a chocolate bar type treat with a smooth chocolate mint filling) for $2 per bar. Please consider purchasing one or more to support our outreach projects. Not Just Tourists: St. John's Anglican Church Women have invited a group of students from the University of Waterloo to come to our Nov. 18 lunch so that they can inform our congregation about the work of Not Just Tourists. These students run the local chapter of this organization which provides suitcases full of essential medical supplies to tourists traveling abroad to countries where medical clinics are in need of supplies. Our ACW will be looking at ways that we can assist these students in their very worthwhile efforts to support those in countries less fortunate than ours. There are no costs involved in their work. They are not seeking our financial support. They are coming only to inform us of this very worthwhile organization. The PWDRF has a wider variety of cards for 2018 Christmas. There is a brochure in at the table in the Narthex, please have a look at it and indicate the cards you would like on the order sheet. Include your name, address and telephone #. Contribution of $20 or more for a pack of cards will be sent a tax receipt. As an example if $60 is donated for 3 packs, the tax receipt will be for $60. The type of card is indicated by a number, for example the Nativity is #8. Please place your order early, so that I can get them to you earlier than in previous years.
