3 Second Sunday of Lent March 12, 2017 Save the date for a Judeo-Christian Supper Let us share this ancient, special meal together, a meal that goes back to the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. This meal is celebrated each year by our Jewish brothers and sisters on the Jewish Feast of Passover. The Last Supper is a gift from our Lord Jesus Christ, given and passed down to us as a meal that conquers death and brings us to His table to receive the gift of life. Deacon Arnie Goodman from Holy Family Parish in Columbus, GA, will be visiting us and leading us in this meal which teaches us about the Exodus event and the Eucharist. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 29th, following 5:00pm Mass. (This Mass time is a change from the regular time of 6:00pm) The Seder Meal is from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Those attending are asked to sign-up in advance in order to plan appropriately. The main meal consists of: Baked chicken, rice, green beans, rolls Sign-up after Mass on the weekends of March 11/12, and 18/19. The cost is $5.00 per person. School families, staff and faculty may also sign-up at the School Office. No family pays more than $20.00 (2 adults with 3 or more children) A word of thanks from Fr. Paul Ladda. First and foremost I would like to thank God for his saving power during a car accident on November 17, It is through His mercy and love that I survived. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Fr. Brian, Fr. Oscar, Deacon Drew and all the Deacons, Sisters and parishioners for the generosity, kindness and prayers you offered me during my time of suffering and recuperation period here at St. John. I recognize the love and your readiness to help me in many ways toward my recovery. I pray that God will bless you abundantly and give you His grace in this Lenten period and throughout the year. 7 Catholic College Students Needed - Prayer and Action is looking for holy, energetic, Jesus-loving college age students to assist a team this Summer leading our high school mission program in Savannah, GA. It will be a 4 week commitment from June through July 1. Some travel and training will be involved and a weekly stipend is included.
