3 Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 11, 2018 Our heavily anticipated Parish Mission is just a couple of weeks away! We encourage everyone to join us on February 25th, 26th and 27th from 7 to 8 PM each evening for a life changing experience with our presenter Adam Storey, a national speaker and the Director of the Marriage and Family Life Office for the Diocese of Des Moines, IA. Adam will reflect on God s plan for our lives, and how us how God s word calls us to a life of passion and how responding to God s love is the only thing that can ever satisfy us. He will offer simple and practical ways to respond to God s love story! Childcare will be provided. Call the church office for more information at ASH WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 14TH On Ash Wednesday there will be three Masses here at St. John with the distribution of ashes. 8:55am,6:00pm and 7:30pm (Spanish) San José, Lake Park 7:00pm (Spanish) At 12 Noon there will be a Liturgy of the Word and distribution of ashes only. Please note... On Monday, March 19th there will be a Parish Penance Service beginning at 6:30pm. Several priests will be available to hear confessions, including Spanish speaking priests. Lenten Blessings for Birthright Birthright is our community Pro-Life organization. During the Lenten Season please support Birthright by placing your spare change in a Baby Bank. The Baby Banks will be available today after Mass. We encourage one box per family and we ask that you return them the first weekend after Easter. The Council of Catholic Women thanks you in advance for your support of this important organization. Let the Parish Life Committee do your fishing for you that evening at our popular Fish Fry Supper at 6:00pm in the Parish Center. Carter s Catering (Adel) will provide fried fish fillets, hush puppies, coleslaw and grits. We will have grilled cheese sandwiches for the little ones, dessert and beverages. Paid supper reservations are required and the cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. TICKETS available this weekend after all the Masses and at the Church Office through February 13th. Please plan ahead so we can order the fish accordingly we will not be able to sell meals after this date or at the door! May God bless your Lenten journey! Lenten Stations of the Cross Our annual Lenten observance of Stations of the Cross begins this year on February 16 th, the first Friday of Lent, at 7:30 PM. The Stations will be observed with a different version of the liturgy being used each Friday. Special music will also accompany the service. Consider making this a family Lenten activity. Also, invite your non-catholic neighbors, who can fully participate in the service. It is a great way to evangelize the community. There will be a special treat for the Stations on February 16 th. Father Brian will play a short recital of organ music at before Stations begin (after the Parish fish fry). Be sure to join us! 5
