Our parish strives to make a return to the Lord for all the good He has done for us through the Stewardship of Time, Talent, and Treasure. All of our parishioners are encouraged to count their blessings each day and to make a sacrificial return through the parish offertory, and by compassionately serving one another s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Mass Schedule: Weekend: Saturday Vigil - 4:30 PM Sunday - 7:30, 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 noon Weekdays and Holy Days: as announced in bulletin Reconciliation: Saturday - 3:15 to 4:00 PM Sunday - 8:15 AM PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Active parish membership is both necessary and helpful to all involved when seeking sponsorship certificates, Marriage or Baptism preparations. Please call the rectory to register or to report address or phone number changes. HOSPITAL VISITS: Please have someone notify the rectory when you or a family member is hospitalized. BAPTISM: Parents must attend a Baptism Prep Class before the Baptism of their child. Classes are held on Sunday in the months of Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., and Dec., and Baptisms are held once a month. 3 Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three LOOKING BEYOND OURSELVES The message found in today s readings is an ofttold story. Citizen Kane, Daddy Warbucks, and King Midas are only a few of the familiar fictional characters who thought enormous wealth could buy happiness and fulfillment. Daddy Warbucks admitted stepping on a few people in his climb to the top. Kane tried to buy the printed word and stardom for his young wife, while King Midas conjured immense wealth and tragedy by his very touch. We learn clearly in today s readings that none of this is really possible. True happiness comes from caring for someone other than ourselves. It comes from the pursuit of the virtues Paul described to Timothy: faith, love, gentleness, godliness, righteousness, and endurance. The Gospel reminds us that we dare not ignore the needs of others, acting as though we don t notice their suffering. God s call to us is much too clear to disregard for even one more day. Family Matters: During this week, we pray and ask God to bless all those children who will be baptized, their parents and godparents in the upcoming months. Deacon Richard Gergar 2017 Mass Book: The 2017 Mass Book will open September 1, Please make your requests in writing. Using a 2017 calendar, remember to include contact information, 1st and 2nd choice of dates and times. Mass requests can be placed in the collection basket or mailed to the rectory. Request will not be taken over the phone. Grief Support Group: We the Living is a support group for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The group will meet for 6-weeks on Mondays, beginning September 19 and ending October 24. Meetings will take place in the St. Anne Convent from 6:00-7:30 PM Facilitator is Maryanne Godbout. For those who are seriously seeking to deepen their spiritual bond with Jesus, this 7 disc audio presentation gives the opportunity to enrich your spirit while reflecting on the writings of Thomas Merton. Sponsored by RCIA. Blessing of Pets on Feast of St. Francis of Assisi Page Four On Tuesday, October 4th, our parish will honor St. Francis and his love for all of God s creatures. Everyone is invited to bring their pets to the Easton Ave. School Lawn at 2 PM for the Blessing of Animals. Please have your pets on a leash or caged for the safety of all present. Lehigh University Choral Arts: They re returning to give us another wonderful afternoon of music! The three ensembles of Lehigh University s Choral Arts will present a program in St. Anne s Church on Sunday, October 9 at 3:00 PM. Come and be delighted and inspired as Dolce (women), the Glee Club (men), and the University Choir (mixed voices) sing a variety of music from many times and places. There is no admission charge. Baskets will be at the doors for a free-will offering to benefit the singers upcoming goodwill trip to Spain. Mark your calendars! All are invited! Bishop s Annual Appeal: As of today, our parishioners have raised $91,797 from 378 parishioners representing 19.92% of our total number of registered families in our parish. We need the support of all of our parish families to reach our goal. If you have not made your pledge of support, you may return your pledge form to the parish office or make your gift online. Healing Mass: On Wednesday, October 5th at 6:30 PM there will be a Mass of Healing for those individuals who have experienced trauma. All are invited to join in prayer at this Mass with Bishop John Barres as Celebrant and Msgr. Walter Scheaffer as homilist at the Annunciation of Mary Parish, Catasauqua. Following Mass there will be a Holy Hour of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and the opportunity for confession. The evening will conclude with Benediction at 8:30 PM.

We made handprints in Art class to decorate our classroom prayer table. We made cards for Grandparent s Day! We are learning how to use magnifying glasses in Science. We are learning Mathematician s words: addend, sum. We are having our first tests/quizzes in Reading, Religion, Math and Spelling and learning good test taking posture and listening skills. We are learning about Creation. We made Thank you, God murals and Creation flowers. During the week of September 26 th - 30 th We will be making applesauce to celebrate Johnny Appleseed s Birthday! And making cards for parishioners in assisted living residences and those receiving Communion calls.
