The St. Anne s Parish is a diverse Roman Catholic community, which proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ by teaching, witness, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Mass Schedule: Weekend: Saturday Vigil - 4:30 PM Sunday - 7:30, 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 noon Weekdays and Holy Days: as announced in bulletin Reconciliation: Saturday - 3:15 to 4:00 PM PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Active parish membership is both necessary and helpful to all involved when seeking sponsorship certificates, Marriage or Baptism preparations. Please call the rectory to register or to report address or phone number changes. HOSPITAL VISITS: Please have someone notify the rectory when you or a family member is hospitalized. BAPTISM: Parents must attend a Baptism Prep Class before the Baptism of their child. Classes are held on Sunday in the months of Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., and Dec., and Baptisms are held once a month. 3 Fifth Sunday of Easter Page Three Miraculous Medal Novena The Miraculous Medal Novena devotions will be celebrated from May 1-9 in the RECTORY CHAPEL. Veterans Poppy Drive: The Catholic War Veterans of Post 454 will conduct their Annual Poppy Dive on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29. Your donations benefit hospitalized veterans at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes -Barre and the five stateoperated Veterans Homes in Pennsylvania, along with local CWV sponsored community functions. Training will be held in church on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd from 3:45-4:45 PM. New servers must attend all 3 sessions. Please call Fr. Mongiello at if you have questions regarding serving at St. Anne s. Thank you for serving God s Altar! Bishop s Annual Appeal: Many thanks to those who have made a pledge to the Bishop s Annual Appeal. BECAHI Football: The Bethlehem Catholic H.S. Football Staff invites students going to grades 2 thru 8 to participate in the 8th Annual Golden Hawks Youth football Camp from June 18th to June 22nd. The camp will provide the boys with an opportunity to learn and develop numerous football skills and techniques. They will work directly with our varsity football coaches, special quest coaches, current Becahi football players as well as recent Becahi graduates who are now playing college football. The camp consists of instructional sessions, competitions and fun activities. 4 Page Four LIVING BRANCHES The Gospel and second reading for this Fifth Sunday of Easter emphasize the need for us to remain in Christ, and he in us. This shared life finds expression in the image of the one vine and many branches. We become living branches of the vine, members of the Body of Christ through baptism, Eucharist, and confirmation, sacraments of sharing God s own life. The First Letter of John describes the fruit of this vine as active love of neighbor: And his commandment is this: we should believe... and love one another (1 John 3:23). Our first reading from Acts shows us an example of someone who shares in Christ s life in the person of Saint Paul. Paul s fearless witness, even at the risk of his life, is proof to everyone that the risen Lord s Spirit truly fills him with life and is bearing fruit in him. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Family Matters: Marriage is a sacrament - a vocation; just as Holy Orders is a sacrament - a vocation. This week we pray for all married couples and clergy-priests and deacons that they continue to be faithful to their vocations. Pray For One Another. Volunteers Needed: St. Anne s Church volunteers to serve lunches at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen on the second Sunday of every month. It takes only two hours of your time and is very rewarding. You may only need to do this once or twice a year. Please contact Mary Boyle, for more information. Host Families Needed: Host families are needed for international students who attend Bethlehem Catholic H.S. for the school year. These F-1 visa students speak English, have medical insurance, and have their own pocket money for personal expenses. Host families provide room and board and receive a generous monthly hosting stipend. For more information, contact Alli Lipson, St. Vincent de Paul Society: Meets every second Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM in the convent. Parishioners are welcome to visit a meeting! Members take part in the activities of their choice, including helpful visits to families and persons in need, or some of the services found below. All services need new helpers! Clothing Center: The Clothing Center is now accepting spring and summer clothing, footwear and linens. Food Project: Donate Food bins are located at four entrances of the church. Your donations of nonperishable food and toiletries will be distributed to those in need in our community. Help Wanted. To take these donations from the church to the convent pantry every 1st Sunday of the month. Please call Mary if interested Partnership with Share Care: Parish drivers provide rides for elderly and handicapped parishioners. New drivers are welcome! Need a ride? Requests must be made at least two week in advance. Call Share Care at , identify as a St. Anne s Parishioner. In Honor/In Memory of gift cards: Available in the rectory or at Washington Ave. exit of the church. Poor Box: The poor box has been revitalized and placed at the front entrance of the church. Your spare change and bills will help those in need in our community through the work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. As always, thank you for your support.
