2 AERIE PRESIDENT MESSAGE What a great installation of officers held June 2, The installing, Aerie and Auxiliary officers did a great job. Congratulations to Madam President Theresa Sharp and your corp of officers. I know we will work well together and have a great year. Father s Day celebration at our men s June 6th meeting was a blast. You ladies sure know how to make us relax and have a fun time. The cookies and brownies were yummy and the beer chip was and will be enjoyed by all. Good luck to our brothers and sisters at state and grand convention and we will be waiting for the reports when you return Brothers, attend the meeting, come to the Fundraisers and enjoy your membership in our Great organization. Hope to see you all soon. We had the Cystic Fibrosis fund raiser, thank you to all who participated and helped! State Convention has come and gone and now on to Grand Convention in July. (Good Luck Bill Metz) he is going in as a shotgun entry for ritual at Grand. I would like to thank all my Aerie brothers for their support as I enter my 2nd term as Secretary. R E A C is like a grain of sand that will irritate your Oyster just enough to form your own pearl. Our REAC club is very diverse and we all have our own ideas, yet we mesh (into a pearl). Bring your own ideas and come join us. Remember we meet the first and third (1st & 3rd) Tuesdays at noon, it s pot luck and rousing games of Bingo with Lots Of Comments. 3 I wish to express my thanks for the support and the multitude of congratulations from my brothers and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Eagle! Congratulations to Worthy President Gene Miller and his new slate of officers. I too look forward to working with them. I ve got to say this is very exciting. I am following in the footsteps of Alma Villanueva, who demonstrated patience, confidence, positivity, ever encouraging, in all matters that were brought before her. Jan Hicks, thank you for being the installing president, as always you did an impeccable job. Lisa Collins, thank you for being the installing conductor. My thanks also for those who helped with the food. It was all delicious! Summer is now at our doorstep and there are some events being organized which should be fun. Come on over and join us, even if it s just to say hi. Auxiliary President Terry Sharp 2018 California State and Grand Aerie and Grand Auxiliary Conventions Hoping all went well at State Convention with brother Bill Metz and sister Jan Hicks competing in ritual competition. They will also be competing in ritual competition at the Grand Convention in Dallas. They will be representing South Gate at these competitions. Good luck to you both. As this article is being written, the results of California State Officers are not yet posted. We wish brother Tony Villanueva and sister Trisha Gutierrez the best. Men s dinner in July We will be serving polish sausage, red potatoes, bell pepper and onion dinner on Wednesday July 18 th at 6 pm. Fresh french bread, salad and dessert will complete the meal. NO OUTSIDE LIQUOR IS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME OR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! No outside Liquor is allowed at any time or under any circumstances. No one can enter with outside drinks nor take drinks out of the hall. Violation of these drink rules will result in the party being cancelled or closed down at the NOTICE of the violation! See the Trustees for more details. The Trustees meet every Tuesday from 5-6 P.M. We are here for you. If you plan on attending our meeting please bring in your ideas so we can discuss ways to improve Our Social Room. All are welcome!! What kind of entertainment, dances, light shows, etc. etc. etc. Tell us what you would like to see or do. Come to your Social Room and have your own party!! 6 Congratulations to: Jesus and Sonia Miranda who are new grandparents to a baby girl on 6/18/2018. Miranda Merrick is 22 inches long and 6lb. 2oz. Bill and Beverly Metz are great grandparents for the 7th time to a baby girl. Aria was born may 25th at 5lb. 4oz. and 20 inches long.. To all members: Please let your family know you belong to the Fraternal Order of Eagle. If by chance you have a medical problem we can be informed. In the unlikely event of your passing your Eagle brothers and sisters will have closure. Contact information is on the cover of this newsletter and on the 2080 website southgate.californiafoe.com SICK AND VISITING REPORT Sister Trisha will be having knee replacement surgery on July 20, Wilma Harrelson under went a triple by-pass and is now recovering. Stephanie Martin will have shoulder surgery on June 18. Judy Petersen has been ill or many months and is now going to hopefully be moving into a place of her own. Gary Marquez was hospitalized with cracked ribs helping a fellow brother. He was people helping people Heidi Gutierrez has Cervical Cirrhosis, a herniated disk and spine calcifying. She is still working but having home therapy when necessary. What a trooper! Deepest Sympathy To The Families Of Brother Alfredo Quintero lost his beloved Father in May. He and his wife Maria traveled to Mexico for the funeral services at Mother s Day. Sister Elizabeth Betty Johnson passed away May 15, 2018 after only a month of medical problems. She served our Auxiliary as men s dinner chairman for many years and did all the dinners for the year. She was also a very active member of REAC until her arthritis kept her home. She was also a member of the American Legion on California Ave. May They Rest In Peace
