2 Dear Sisters and Brothers, Sherrie, Adelia, Kaleela, and Gracie, join me in wishing you a wonderful Season of Peace, as the warm weather turns to the cool of harvest time. I would like to thank the Congregation here at Medina for the many ways in which you have welcomed us into our new Church home and the Manse at 300 Park Avenue. During the first few weeks of the month, I have the opportunity to begin pastoral visitation at. Medina Hospital, participate in worship with the residents of the Willows and Orchard Manor. The Fall season of the ministries of the Medina Area Association of Churches began, and work with that ministry began with the September Meeting. Rev. Tony Hopes of the Medina First United Methodists Church invited me to participate with him in the MAAC Clergyled worship scheduled for mid-september. As we approach the formal end of the Season of Peace, including World Communion Sunday, we have been celebrating God s call for us, as children of God, to be peacemakers, the believers calling. Together, we reflected on peacemaking locally, regionally, nationally, and across the breadth of the big, blue marble, Earth. Locally, we will have a wonderful opportunity to reflect together on a central concern of social Justice, the issues in responding to racism. As part of the work within our Synod of the Northeast, we are invited to participate, individually and as a congregation, in the free, open Workshop by Crossroads Anti-Racism, to be offered at Gates Presbyterian Church, 9am-4pm, October 21, People will participate from ours and four other Presbyteries in Upstate New York. Later in October, we will continue our celebration of the Season of the Children s Sabbath with the Children s Sabbath Weekend, lifting up the concerns for children and their families in the spirit of God s call in Jeremiah 9: 23-24, to love, relationship, and justice. Harvest time in our community is a blessing for our families and spirits as we experience the fruits of labor, the earth, and of the Spirit. Like the part of the harvest which calls for turning over the earth, preparing it for replenishing itself, the Autumn can be for us a time of nourishment of the spirit, and preparation for following the welcoming Way of following Jesus. As we offer our PeaceMaking gifts on World Communion Sunday, and celebrate our unity as God s humankind, let us renew our faith in knowing Christ, living Christ, and sharing Christ in our daily living. Grace to you, and peace, Pastor William Rev. Dr. William Huston Wilkinson

Shortly after turning 8, Lilli made her first communion. And the week that Julia turned 14, she was confirmed. How wonderful to see both girls on the right path!

6 CHURCH PICNIC By unanimous vote, the 2017 fall picnic was moved indoors this year because of the beastly outdoor temperature! Pastor William opened the festivities with greetings and grace and we all ate well. What a feast! Deacon Pat Crowley as social director provided cerebral activities: a short quiz checking our knowledge of September history; a list of scrambled names from the Bible which Sue Metzo aced with the highest score; and several jigsaw puzzles which the team of Donna Johnson, Lynne Ambrose and Dave and Trudi Schwert won prizes f o r f a s t e s t completion. Lots of fun and laughter! A jolly good time was had by all!
