Next K of C Business Meeting February 10, :00 pm Grand Knight s Report My Brother Knights, First I would like to say to all the knights who helped and supported the Capital Gain Program and the New Years Eve Dance, thank you for a job well done. On February 12th, we will be holding our annual Valentine s Meal. We will begin setting up the cafeteria at 4:00 pm on the twelfth. Any one who is able to help is asked to come out. We need to get an accurate count on how many people will be attending the meal, so please call either Louis Savoie at or Gregg Pellegrin at for your reservation. The cost is $30.00 per couple or $15.00 per single person. Please see flyer on second page I want to wish everyone a happy Valentine s Day. Through your generosity we were able to sell all of the Christmas raffle tickets we were allotted to sell. This money is used only for dedicated projects or donations (charitable). Thank You! Our auxiliary has adopted a family for Christmas for the last several years through Catholic Charities. This year through your help we were able to supply the things that the mother asked for Christmas gifts, plus provide them with a Christmas meal. Again, Thank You! As we are in our fourth year, both organizations have worked to reduce our church s debt; either by fundraisers or donations. This has been an on going project which we, as a parish should be proud of, not only as knights and auxiliary members. Our two groups have worked together to reach this goal. This five-year commitment is not finished yet, but we will continue to help erase our debt. Again, Thank you! Our next project has not happened yet, but I know that as in the past years the ladies will be very generous for our Valentine project. Again, Thank You! You have been very generous in your support of Respect Life by buying Mother s Day corsages and calendars. Again, Thank You! February Humility Whoever humbleth himself, shall be exalted. ~~~ Lk. 14:11 Humility is the mother of many virtues. From it spring obedience, holy fear, reverence, patience, modesty, mildness, and peace; for, whoever is humble easily obeys all, fears to offend any, maintains peace with all, shows himself affable to all, is submissive to all, does not offend or displease any, and does not feel the insults which may be inflicted upon him. He lives happy and contented, and in great peace ~~St.Thomas of Villanova Our Lord says that who ever wishes to become greatest of all must make himself least of all. This is a truth that all Christians believe; how happens it, then, that so few practice it? ~~St. Vincent de Paul These are only a few of the projects we do during the year, but I felt you needed to see a few of our projects. To list all projects would take a whole page, that s not my intention. All I wanted to do was to say Thank You for all of the wonderful things we accomplish and do during the year as a group. Sweet Remembrance Day: This is one of our annual projects. You can take part in this project even if you are not an active member. We deliver sweets of any kind, made or bought, to The Haven, Louis Infant Center and MacDonnell s Methodist Children s Home. The sweets can be delivered to my house on Sunday, February 13, from 4 pm 7 pm; my address is 2212 Mary Hughes Drive. After all the items are delivered to my house, we will them make baskets/ platters to deliver the next day. On Monday February 14 we will deliver the goodies to the above mention locations in the morning. If anyone would like to go with us, please call me. LLAA Meeting: Will he held at the St. Louis Bayou Blue K. C. Home on February 12. Please consider attending this meeting. We will have a raffle table there. If you have anything you would like to donate for the raffle table call, Jean, Tama or me. Phone numbers are on the 1 st page of the auxiliary newsletter. Ladies Night Out: We are planning an eat out on March 15. Mark your calendars. The restaurant we picked is called B.O.E. It is located on Main Street. We will card pool. More info next month. Msgr, Webre Raffle Tickets: This is a LLAA raffle. A percentage of this raffle will be present to the Knights at the Convention Banquet on April 30, in Kenner, for they re YEP (helping the youth). The cost is $1 per ticket; 1 st prize is $500. You were so generous with the raffle we held in December; please consider being so generous again. 6 Insurance check-up for 2011 Where did 2010 go? It seems like it was summer yesterday and Easter was last week. I hope you and your family had a great finish to Now, the first quarter of 2011 is speeding by. Hopefully, you ve established a few goals for this year. I ve learned a great tip regarding resolutions. First, write them down. It s not too late if you haven t already done this. Commit your goals to paper and post it someplace you will see it often. Writing down a goal is the first step towards achieving it. I don t know exactly how this works, but I ve heard stories of the success this simple task can bring. Whether your goal is to exercise more, give more to charity, read more or watch less television, you re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down. Second, resolve to have an expert look at your finances. I recommend that you have a team of experts help you, and I should be among the first you sit with. Schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, and I ll provide an insurance check-up that will quickly identify any gaps in your family s life insurance program. And you ll want to fill those gaps now, not later. Unlike many other products, you don t just need money to obtain life insurance; you also need good health, and no one knows when your health could change. Did I mention my check-up is free of charge?
