There are several reasons why members have not renewed: Death, Illness, Moved, or just plain upset with the Post. Please let us hear from you about your reason for not renewing. Plans are underway for our Memorial Day Celebration. We will hold it on May 27 th. Along with the ceremony in the Officers Manual, we are considering a POW/MIA Table Ceremony and/or a Flag Retirement Ceremony. Please let us know if you would like either or both of these, or something else, so that we can firm up our program. We have just had all of our inspections from all of the agencies who inspect here to make sure that all of you remain safe. The Fire Department found everything good, the Health Inspector found a minor problem with the Sanitizer which was corrected the next day, and we had a courtesy visit from the Sheriff s Department. All of this in one week! Thanks to everyone for doing your jobs to make all this good. If you as a member or visitor feel that something is out of order, please bring it to our attention so that we may act on it. As always, keep our veterans in your thoughts, particularly those in need, help if you can. Keep our active duty service men and women in your thoughts and prayers, especially those who may be in harm s way. George Eliot Chuck Blay, Commander AUXILIARY Our Auxiliary Unit had a very busy February and March getting ready for the Merchandise Pickle. Our largest fundraiser of the year. From collecting donations to shopping for the food. In the end, we raised over a $1,000 for our charities. To all our Volunteers, we couldn t get it done without your help. Thank you for supporting this effort. It was nice to see everyone at the Post to attend the Merchandise Pickle and enjoy Annie s Corn Beef and Cabbage. It s that time for our Unit to start planning for the next Auxiliary year. The nomination for Auxiliary Officers begins. Please come to our next meeting on April 6 6pm to nominate and vote for your next Auxiliary Officers. Show your Auxiliary pride and get our brand out there. Check out emblem.legion.org to find Auxiliary apparel. Lots of stuff to choose from. Just a Reminder-If you have not renewed your membership for 2017, you must do so ASAP. We don t

Stacey Honeyman, Auxiliary President CHAPLAIN Holy Week; Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday- Easter. Holy week is the last week of Lent, the week preceding Easter or Resurrection Sunday. Holy week begins with the 6th Sunday of Lent. Palm Sunday observes the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem during Passover. The crowds waved palm branches and sang songs of celebration. Gospels tell us that Jesus rode into the city on a donkey. Fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9.9. Maundy Thursday- is the day of the last supper. or the Passover meal, and communion service. Maundy means, "to give, to entrust or to order". This was the day Jesus was arrested, latter in the night. Good Friday, Jesus trial, crucifixion, suffering by beating, and whippings, death, and burial. Good Friday is not a day of celebration, but of mourning, both for the death of Jesus, but also for the sins of the world, that his death represents. The Sunday following is a day for celebration and joy, as this is the day of Jesus resurrection, Easter Sunday. Defeating death (spiritual) not just for him but for us also, our sins forgiven. April 16th. April Newsletter chapter) has advised us that they will be requesting another presentation in the fall for additional Post Honorees. If you want to nominate a Veteran to receive one of these fantastic quilts, please drop a note in the drop box at the front of the lounge. The first annual SAL sponsored Poker Tournament will be held on April 1st at noon. Look for the flyer in this issue of the newsletter. FYI: The Monday evening poker games will resume on April 3rd at 6:30 or 7:00. Come on out for some fun and cards. Our famous We Care packages are leaving for Turkey and Korea the last week of March. Thank You to Jim Friel and Abby Green for folding the mini flags that accompany every box out of Country. SAL bingo has been a huge success for us of late and I want to take a moment to thank all the bingo players and supporters. SAL has plans to expand bingo night to include twelve games instead of the normal ten. We will start that in April Elections are upon us in May and the following nominations were made at the March meeting. Tim Pappy Schenck, Past Commander & SAL Adjutant Bob Martin, Chaplain Around the Post The Quilts of Valor presentation has be postponed until July 11th 2017 at 7:00 PM due to a scheduling conflict. Please plan to attend the regular Legion meeting of the Post on that date to support our Veterans who are being recognized. Legion, Auxiliary, and SAL members and family are welcome that night for the presentation. The QOV foundation (Colorado

Tournament will pay top 3 players 80% of prize pool. 20% of prize pool to benefit SAL Charities. Payouts: 1 st = 40% 2 nd = 25% 3 rd = 15% All paid players will receive a raffle ticket for SAL giveaways! (must be present to win ) Food and drinks will be available for your enjoyment SAL BINGO April 8th &22nd Come out and support our SAL charities Children s Welfare Foundation, Colorado Wounded Warrior and Fisher House. Bingo is held on every second and fourth Saturday of the Month at Post beginning at 6:00 PM. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS CARE PACKAGES Don t forget to drop off some items to be shipped to our troops. A basket is located at the entry of the Post along with a suggested list of items needed by our troops.
