Can I really pattern my life after Christ's as he ministered to others?? How do we live out the Great Commission both personally and corporately as a church family?? These are the great challenges of our times in what some have termed the "post Christian" era. We at Centenary are pursing the answers to these questions in the most practical of ways. Make plans now to attend the Global Outreach Weekend which is coming in November....it will change the way we see ourselves as a church and perhaps the way we live... don't miss it. Friday evening, November 12, 6:30; Saturday, November 13 from 8:30 to 1, and our entire Sunday morning time as a congregation on November 14. We hope all of you will join us for our exciting programs on Wednesday evenings and please invite friends and family to join us as well. We will be hosting a movie night on September 11th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit in for enjoyment of viewing the movie. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Please watch for more information about the featured presentation that will be shown. MUSIC It s hard to believe September is already here! Our ensembles are back in full swing with many exciting things coming up in the near future. Our Handbell choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, September 1st from 7:00-7:50. The Handbell choir is open to everyone regardless of skill level. The Handbells will be having a great time preparing for Thanksgiving, Advent, and the Christmas seasons. Speaking of Advent and Christmas, I am proud to announce this year s Christmas Cantata entitled Winter s Grace. This year s cantata features beautiful Christmas songs from around the world set to beautiful music from Joseph Martin. We have plenty of cantata books and individual practice CD s so if you are interested in singing with us, please come sign up for this year s cantata and get your book! We are practicing Cantata music each Wednesday night from 8:00-8:30. Even if you can t make every rehearsal, I still invite you to come and sing. We have a place for you and you will want to be a part of this year s cantata! If you enjoy speaking or being dramatic, this year s cantata also has many narrator roles and opportunities to showcase your acting talent! Take a look at the Cantata rehearsal schedule below and feel free to contact the church office, Mark your calendars for Centenary's annual "TRICK OR TRUNK" which will be held on Sunday, October 31st from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in the church parking lot. There will be many trunks filled with treats for the children, food, games and wonderful fellowship for this afternoon together. We hope you will decorate your trunks, fill them with lots of treats and come out and enjoy this amazing afternoon for Centenary's children and the children of our community! Children's Ministries will be having a fall fundraiser beginning Sunday, September 12th. Our ministry team will be selling cake pans and many kitchen items that you can have engraved with names, initials and symbols. These items would make wonderful Christmas gifts for friends and family. We will be having the items displayed and will be taking orders for them on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings beginning Sunday, September 12th. We appreciate your support of our ministry fundraiser; the funds raised will go towards the continual support of CUMC s children's programming. We appreciate everyone s support and prayers as we begin our fall programming for our children of Centenary and our community. God Bless, Tammy Bradley, Director of Children's Ministries a choir member, or myself to get more information or a cantata book!
