2 7/24 Movies Under the Stars (Tabernacle Ballfield) 8:30 pm 7/28 9:00 am Adult Fellowship Shallowford Popcorn Farm 10:00 am Movie Meet-Up Carmike 18-Children s Ministry Movies Under the Stars!! Sunday, July 24th, 8:30 pm, Tabernacle Ballfield Come out with your families and friends and join us for a night of fellowship under the stars with a movie and bonfire. The youth welcome all families to come and join us. The Adult Fellowship Group will be traveling to the Shallowford Popcorn Farm in Yadkinville on Thursday July 28th. Here we will see the popcorn process from field to finish, and we'll get to sample and purchase over 20 gourmet flavors. We will dine at the Old Stage Grill in Yadkinville. Our bus will leave Tabernacle at 9:00 am. If there are questions, call Gaynell Faulk at or Patsy Phillips at Children s Ministry- Summer Activities! Movie Meet Up- The Peanuts Movie- July 28th- 10:00 am showing On July 28th I d love to meet up at the Carmike 18 (4822 Koger Blvd.) to have some laughs and enjoy "The Peanuts Movie" together. The cost of admission with a small popcorn and soda is just $4. Let s meet at 9:40 so you can purchase the ticket for your child prior to the showing and we can get organized into so good seats! Please let me know if you plan to attend. I will need at least one other parent to attend with me (maybe 2 depending on the interest) so if you can staying as a chaperone please let me know! A Tie Dye & Game Night- Thursday August 11th- 6:30-8pm Please bring an old shirt you don t mind using to create tie dye and your favorite game. We will tie dye outside but meet up me in the fellowship hall. We will tie dye first, have a light snack & and play games. Please RSVP so I know how many to expect and list what game you d like to share with the group to make sure we have enough available to play. 3 Blanket Blessings Fellowship Circle We are happy to report that the Blanket Blessings Mission Fund will be giving our second check to the Christian Life Center for $500. We wish to thank the congregation for your support. All profits from this mission go directly to the CLC. We appreciate your donations to purchase supplies and your purchases of the finished product. These blankets make great gifts and we have sizes from baby to twin bed. For a minimal fee, they can be personalized with monogram. Please see any Fellowship Circle Member to purchase. We plan to have our blankets on display the last Sunday of the month in the Commons Area. Causey Family Reunion The 36th annual Causey reunion is just around the corner! Please plan to attend this year s gathering to enjoy the company of your family. Bring any family photos to add to the Causey scrapbook. The reunion will be held on Sunday, August 14th at Tabernacle UMC in the fellowship hall from 1:00-3:00 p.m.. Please be sure to bring a covered dish. Hope to see you there! Guatemala Stove and Water Purifier Challenge Since 2009 Oak Ridge UMC has been a leader in Changing Lives in Guatemala through the Guatemala Stove and Water Purifier Project. Putting our Love and Compassion into action the Parables Class has decided to adopt two families for $300 per family. This includes the stove, concrete pad, whitewash on the walls around the cooking area, and a water purifier. We are challenging all TUMC ministries and groups to match or exceed our commitment. Donations can be made on, or before, September 18 th. Make your check or donation out to Tabernacle UMC and put Guatemala Stove-Water Project in the memo. We will track the funds and keep you posted on our progress. The Challenge is on!! Guatemala Challenge Accepted!!! The Teen Girls Small Group has accepted the challenge given by the Parables Sunday school class to match OR exceed their contribution to the Guatemala Stove and Water Purifier Ministry. We will be holding a Bake Sale on Sunday, August 21 st during our Sunday morning activities. No need to make dessert for lunch that day! Come by, see, and take home the delicious concoctions we will prepare for you! Let the games begin! UMW GENERAL MEETING Save The Date! - Back to School August 21st 2-4 pm Please begin collecting school supplies for all age groups, to donate to our five local schools at the United Methodist Women s General Meeting on August 21st. Once again this fall the Tabernacle Theater Group will be performing a skit from the Andy Griffith series. The Fun Girl s will be presented on Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23. Dinner will be served both evenings. CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS Contribution statements for the second quarter are available for pick up today. If you did not pick up your statement this morning in Sunday School, please check the box in the narthex after the worship service today. This helps us contain our postage costs. Summer Finance Update from our Finance Committee Tabernacle recently wrapped up another great Vacation Bible School at the end of June, and then just a few days later sent a group of youth and adults to Honduras on a mission trip. These are just two of the many ministries being supported by our church this summer. With summer vacations and out of town trips, it can be easy to lose sight of the many ministries that are still going on at our church. These ministries are supported through your partnership and giving to our operating budget. We need the support of our members all year long and especially during the summer months. Please keep your church and the ministries supported both here locally and throughout the world in your thoughts and prayers and consider an extra gift to the operating budget in support. DO YOU COUNT?? Each week, our finance team has a pair or offering counters who begin the initial process of counting and securing our weekly offering. With multiple counters, it offers accountability and only takes about minutes after our worship on Sunday. if you would be willing to count for just a couple of Sundays every 4-6 months, it would be a great help. Please specify date/time, what area of the building will be used, sound/any specific equipment, or if kitchen facilities are needed. Due to quite a few of our staff members being new to TUMC this will help to ensure all details are clear, staff/committee members are in place, and their are no conflicts in dates.
