3 Guatemala Stove and Water Purifier Challenge Since 2009 Oak Ridge UMC has been a leader in Changing Lives in Guatemala through the Guatemala Stove and Water Purifier Project. Putting our Love and Compassion into action the Parables Class has decided to adopt two families for $300 per family. This includes the stove, concrete pad, whitewash on the walls around the cooking area, and a water purifier. We are challenging all TUMC ministries and groups to match or exceed our commitment. Donations can be made on, or before, September 18 th. Make your check or donation out to Tabernacle UMC and put Guatemala Stove-Water Project in the memo. We will track the funds and keep you posted on our progress. The Challenge is on!! VISITOR S COFFEE & DESSERT WITH OUR PASTORS Monday, September 19th, 7:00 pm 7:45 pm If you are a guest or you ve been visiting Tabernacle for some time, we invite you to join us for a time of fellowship and information with our pastors. This will be a time to learn more about our church and answer questions you might have about Tabernacle UMC and our ministries. If you are ready to join our church family, we ll also schedule a date for you to become a member of Tabernacle. Tabernacle UMW Brunswick Stew & Bake Sale Saturday, September 24 th at 3pm $6.50 per quart WORKERS and DONATIONS NEEDED!! Large Hens Needed these need to be cooked, skinned and cut into small pieces. Please no livers, gizzards or fat. Bring the chicken broth in a separate container. Hens need to be brought to the fellowship hall kitchen on Friday, September 23 rd or before 6:00am Saturday, September 24 th Homemade Desserts Cakes, Pies, Persimmon Puddings, Breads, etc. If it s delicious, we want it! Please bring desserts to the fellowship hall on Friday, September 23 rd or Saturday, September 24 th before noon. We need the support of EVERY FAMILY at Tabernacle to make the stew a success. Please come out and make this another great day in the life of our church. Some work all day, but if you only have a couple of hours, please come on out and enjoy the fellowship! September Adult Fellowship Trip! The Adult Fellowship Group will be traveling to Burlington to tour the Alamance County State Historic Site and the Alamance County Historical Museum, the 19th century home of Edwin M. Holt. We'll have a guided tour at both locations. There are no admission charges but donations are appreciated. From here, we'll head to Graham for some "good ole fashioned" barbeque at Hursheys. Winner will be selected in October all proceeds for CLC Building Fund. Sponsors Needed! Once again this fall the Tabernacle Theater Group will be performing a skit from the Andy Griffith series. The Fun Girl s will be presented on Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23. Dinner will be served both evenings. FOOD FOR THE SOUL The Food for the Soul Freezer is running low. This ministry nourishes the bodies and souls of our congregation and community with home cooked meals. If you can make casseroles or other frozen dishes to help us restock the freezer, we would appreciate it. Money is available to pay for supplies, just turn in receipts and expense forms to the church office. Freezer friendly recipes are also available in the church office. Tabernacle Hospitality Team Needs YOU! The evangelism team wants to demonstrate the friendship and Christian fellowship that is present at Tabernacle to all guests. We are creating a hospitality team to help make it a reality. Our training is scheduled for September 28th at 3:30 PM. If you are interested, or just want to learn more, please volunteer by calling the church office or Steve Swain at steveswain@triad.rr.com. The Tabernacle Love and Compassion committee needs our support. The women of our church provide love and support to our bereave families.
