Louis Boué 2013/2014 Executive Sir Knights and Ladies, Faithful Navigator s Report As we start this New Year Let Us first have a Moment of Silence for the 5 Sir Knights who passed away this past year; Sir Knights Eugene Francis Whelan, Roger Vercruysse, Claude Loignon, Mike Murphy and Randy Edward Meloche. We have held 2 Memorial Masses with very poor turn outs and I really Thank those who could make it out especially those Members who came out in Regalia and also the Ladies. I wish to Thank Fr. Ray Masse and Fr. Brian Jane for allowing these Extra Masses, it is so important that we recognize and pay tribute to and honour those who have passed on. Lady Diane and I wish ALL the Members of this Assembly and their Families a Very Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year. I would also like to Thank ALL those who came out to Our Annual Christmas Dinner/Party on December 14th especially with the very inclement weather. We had a great turn out and a great success all things considered. I would also like to Thank the following Assembly s and their Members for their support and presence at the Christmas Dinner/Party; Dean Wagner, Rt. Rev. Wilfrid J. Langlois, Fr. Alvin P. Marentette, and Andrew Michael Taggart. Let us Pray that this New Year bring renewed interest and support for the Knights of Columbus especially in Our works of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism and that we support each other just as Fr. McGivney would have us do. Let Us Never Forget that we are the Visible and Strong right arm of the Church, we are also the Patriotic and Social Degree of the Order and as such we are planning 1 and possibly 2 Special events geared with these in mind, We need Our Member s Support. This is addition to Our 20th Anniversary celebration on August 9th. Please remember that April and May will be here soon and we need to THINK about the future of the Assembly - Consider stepping up and being an active Executive Member. The same goes for the Colour Corps, when We are asked to participate let Us get Our numbers up, show up in force, and have Our presence recognised. This is one way to recruit; Let s face it, We as part of the 4th Degree are very visible in Our Regalia. At the Christmas Dinner/Party I mentioned the importance of completing a Disposition form - Please consider this very important and simple task - there is a copy in the bulletin. Please fill out the Fraternal Survey for 2013 as it is extremely important, it should be attached in this bulletin. I would like to ask ALL Members to participate in the upcoming Communal Masses scheduled for Amherstburg, McGregor, Harrow and Kingsville - this a chance for ALL Members and their Families especially the Colour Corps to come to Church and celebrate Our Faith and then celebrate a meal (breakfast) together afterwards. These Communal Masses are scheduled with these considerations in mind - See the Announcements Section for Details. Des, Fr Chris and the entire staff I extend warmest regards and pray that you and your loved ones had a Blessed Christmas. This is a time when we reflect on the love of God that is so personal that the second person of the Holy Trinity took on our human nature to be with us in the most intimate way. In doing so God humbly took on the weakness and frailty of our human condition. He reveals to us God s presence and love in a way which is both staggering and awe-inspiring. Let the message of Christmas enter into your minds and let it refresh your hearts and spirits. Ponder the mystery. As Mary said Yes to God in giving birth to Jesus may we also give birth to Christ in all we do. May the love we share, the kindness we show, the peace we offer and the faith we live bring Christ s life to all and reflect the true meaning of Christmas. I pray that the peace and joy of the Christmas season be with you and your family throughout the coming year. PS. Please note that Wednesday, January 1st is the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and is a Holy Day of obligation in which Catholics are obliged to participate at Mass. 3 January 12 TH : The Baptism of Jesus Lead Commander s Report Worthy Sir Knights, Faithful Captain s Report Sir Knights, As I reflect back on the past six months of 2013, I not only realize how fast it has gone by but also how much I have learned thanks to the assistance of Sir Knight Dan. It has for the most part been very successful regarding our Dinner Meetings with very few no shows even though attendance could be a bit better. We had a very successful Christmas Party even with the worst of WEATHER CONDITIONS. The food, wine and fraternalism was excellent. Thank you Sir Knight Kevin Klinck for taking care of the 50/50 tickets for me. Our first dinner meeting of the New Year is in McGregor on January 16th and the Ladies are invited. I have arranged a ladies program for them and I hope it will be for their enjoyment. I would really like to receive some insight from our Ladies with some other ideas or some contacts for their programs with possibly a Guest Speaker. My other big hope is that attendance will increase in this New Year and that we will all enjoy good health. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Holiday. As we start the New Year I would like to build the ranks a little bit. If you have ever thought of joining the Color Corps / Honour Guard and never looked into it, ask myself, or any Sir Knight that is part of the Corps. We will be able to answer any questions that you might have. We now have 5 Callers who will be doing ALL the calls for any Colour Corps events and they are Sir Knights Albert Colombe, Phil Anderson, Joe Vaillancourt, Richard Laporte and Michel Nouhra. I Thank them for either stepping up or continuing in this very important duty. We are asking for Colour Corps to attend a Memorial Mass for S.K. Roger Vercruysse on January 22nd at 7:00pm in the Fr. Doll room at St. John be Brebeuf Church in Kingsville. Please show up no later than 6:30 pm and assemble in the Church basement. I am especially asking ALL Kingsville, Harrow and Leamington Colour Corps to attend due to the distances and time of this Mass. There are also Communal Masses in February and March that Colour Corps have been asked to attend see the Announcements Section. Thanks. 4 Sir Knights, Comptroller s Report Good of the Order Happy New Year to all our Sir Knights and their families. Our membership has taken a bit of a hit this fraternal year because of deaths and suspensions. We will be heading into the New Year with 145 members. Please let us know of any potential members you have in mind so we can try to recruit them. Supreme has discontinued manual record keeping of dues and is in the process of discontinuing their personal computer version as well. This will only leave the on-line membership management program to keep track of members and all the information on the membership. I am converting to this program but there will be a learning curve in utilizing all the options within this program. I have already run into a couple of problems which required some adjustments on my part. Please bear with me as I go forward with this program. On that note, I have sent out dues notices using the membership management program. I am not 100% sure if everything is accurate because we have had carry overs of dues by some members from last year and other information had to be put in. If any members have received a dues notice, and there is an error or problem with the statement, please let me know. Please remember the increase in dues is to cover operating costs of the assembly and nothing else. Due to some unexpected expenses out of our control, there is definitely a possibility the increase may not completely cover all the expenses to run our assembly this fraternal year as well. (That shows how essential the dues increase was). Hopefully, we can come to a solution for this situation and avoid another increase in dues. It is way too soon for that, so we will be looking at the expenses and ways to hopefully cut some of them if possible. My wish is that all our members and their families say as healthy as possible and have a good upcoming new year. God bless and see you soon. Place Chosen Charitable Donation: A monetary gift will be presented to a Registered Charity of the Sir Knight s choice, which is in lieu of a Chalice/Ciborium and represents a religious memorial gift and must be such as to honour his name. The current amount our Assembly has designated in a monetary form is $ (Examples-Church Restoration Funds, Religious Orders, Seminaries, Convents, etc.). Memorial Gift & Place Chosen: NOTE: If there is no disposition form on record or no selection has been made by the Family, it will be up to the Assembly to choose a Charity for the above mentioned charitable donation, which will be presented in memory of the Sir Knight.
