1 Fr. Louis Boué 2014/2015 Executive Faithful Navigator s Report Sir Knights, Despite the anguish of our Master Peter the Fraternal Survey was completed by our Faithful Comptroller and ed in on time. Thank you S.K. Paul for completing it and assuring the Master it would be in on time. With our fundraiser Fish fry coming up on February 27 th it is time to get off our butts and get organized if we want it to be a success. Our members have to promote it at the council level and this executive needs to set a good example by being there and being involved in the work. If we are including a bake sale we have to plan ahead to get the wives etc. involved. If we are having a 50/50 draw we need the time to apply for a permit. S.K. Paul has taken on the position of Chairman and I am sure he has the information for us. The time has come for me to visit the other Councils under Fr Louis Boué now that I am relatively healthy and promote the 4 th Degree and the upcoming Exemplification. Every one of us as members of the 4 th Degree should be promoting membership at our own individual Councils. With our next Dinner Meeting this month in River Canard I congratulate St. Joseph s Council on their upcoming 50 th Anniversary. I am proud to know we are placing a congratulatory Ad in their anniversary booklet. Tickets are also available for purchase but this still needs to be decided on at our upcoming February meeting. Due to the patience and diligence of S.K. and Faithful Admiral Dan Orawski in dealing with our local M.P. s riding office. S.K Dan and I are working on honoring and making aware the 50 th Anniversary of our Canadian Flag the Maple Leaf. 2 .continued from Faithful Navigator s report We are planning on doing this in the respective parishes of our Assembly on Sunday February 15 th which is the official day of the 50 th. We have received a shipment of small flags, Lapel Pins etc. to hand out after the Masses and are attempting to get more and are looking at our Colour Corp members to pass them out. I want to personally thank S.K. Joe Vaillancourt for bringing this to my attention. S.K. Joe is always ahead of everyone in what is going on and a very dedicated member of our Assembly. Ed Happy New Year! We began our new year of 2015 with Mass on January 1 st celebrating Mary Mother of God. Why begin the New Year with our Lady? The short answer is that Christianity itself began with her; Mary gave birth to the Church. Mary s yes changed the course of history and ushered in a New Age of Grace and Peace as she bore in her womb and gave to the world the very Prince of Peace. So it is very appropriate that as we begin this New Year we honor Mary and ask how she might inspire us to make this coming year as fruitful and peaceful as possible. We begin with Mary s yes and realize that it was not a single isolated moment in her life. Rather she continued to say yes. When Jesus began his public ministry, when her neighbors rejected him, when she witnessed his suffering at the Cross and when he left this earth to return to His Father. This is shy Mary is called the model believer, model woman of faith, the perfect example of what it means to follow Christ. Little wonder that her kinswomen Elizabeth exclaimed of her Blessed is she who believed that what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled. This is why Mary is honored today. But at the same time we should never forget those startling words Jesus tells his own disciples and us today. My Mother and my brothers and sisters are those who hear the world of God and do it. Certainly this is not a rejection of Mary, quite the opposite. She above all others heard the Word of God and did it. Even now she says silently to us what she said so eloquently to the servant when the marriage feast of Cana ran out of wine: Do whatever he tells you! May we heed this advice as we begin a new year and then watch how our Lord works in those who obey! Fr. Brian Brother Sir Knights, Faithful Captain s Report Let me start my comments by thanking all those who helped out in my absence last month, especially Sir Knight Ron AMLIN who volunteered to do my job without hesitation. Thank you again Ron. I also want to thank the staff at the Harrow K of C for putting on, what I understand, was an excellent meal. I also want to thank all the callers who, each and every month make those phone calls inviting members out to our dinner meetings. Let s not disappoint them this month and say YES to their invitation. It s always a GREAT meal, EXCELLENT fraternal time with your brother s and ALWAYS informative. Last month in Harrow there were 22 Sir Knights that attended, which appears to be down significantly from our usual attendance. I would appreciate hearing back from Sir Knights with their thoughts as to how we might increase these numbers and make our meetings more encompassing. These meetings are extremely important and informative, providing everyone the opportunity to voice their opinion during our deliberations. Come out and be a participant and don t sit like a spectator on the sidelines. This month our meeting is on February 19 th, 2015 hosted by River Canard Council. I m looking forward to another outstanding meal. My prayers this month will include favorable weather and road conditions, and continued health for our members and their families, so as to afford all of us the opportunity to come together in Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. From the retired police officer winter driving can be hazardous, drive defensively, be alert to traffic around you, know your winter driving ability & road conditions and always plan for the unexpected. 3 .continued from Faithful Admiral s report Faithful Admiral s Report Worthy Sir Knights and Ladies, Worthy Sir Knights and Ladies, Please remember that the season of Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, February 18 th ; a day of obligation to attend Mass and it is a day of fasting and abstinence from meat. Lent gives us the opportunity to examine our lives and to adjust them in a way that would show others that we are truly Christians and that we do care for the poor by almsgiving, acts of kindness and Charity. ALWAYS remember the pledge that we ALL gave when we joined the Knights - PRAY the Rosary daily for Our sakes and that of Our Mother, Mary. Exemplification 2015, scheduled for May 23 rd in Pain Court, we finally have details and a web site to register not only Candidates but also anyone who wishes to attend; the web site is The Exemplification FEE for Candidates is $ which includes Banquet meal, Social Baldric and 4 th Degree Lapel Pin. For Member s and Ladies the banquet meal costs $35.00 each and meal choices are Chicken or Beef; the Ladies Brunch is $ This is a ONE DAY event and unfortunately there are no times listed but my guess is that the Exemplification starts at 9:00am. I have sent out an requesting that this rather important missing information be posted as soon as possible. This should not stop us from recruiting any Candidates. In Our Parishes at the back of each of Our Churches there should be some cards entitled Heroes of Sacrifice which contain pictures of those Men presently in St. Peter s Seminary discerning a life as a Parish Priest. Please pick up a card and on the back you will find a Prayer - Please Pray for them ALL especially Deacons Don Pomputis and Danny Santos who will be Ordained in April - God Bless these Men. Our Maple Leaf Flag will be celebrating 50 years as Our Nations Flag on February 15 th, to Honour this Special Flag and this Special Day the Members of the 4 th Degree and of the Fr. Louis Boué Assembly will be handing out miniature Flags, Flag pins, Flag stickers and Patriotic book markers after Sunday Masses at the back of each Church - with the Priests permission - which has been requested. I am asking the Colour Corps Members to be in regalia and any 4 th degree Members to stand together passing out these mementos - there are limited amounts. Let us celebrate this Day by remembering this Great Nation and the sacrifices of so many for the freedoms and bounty that we now enjoy. God Bless Canada. Most Precious Blood Parish in Windsor (1947 Meldrum Road) will be sponsoring an exhibition of a replica of the Shroud of Turin from Wednesday, March 11 th until Tuesday, March 17 th Colour Corps has been requested for the exhibition times. Faithful Admiral s report continued next. The Exhibition runs Daily from 10:00am - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 9:00pm except Sunday March 15th when the times are 1:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 9:00pm. The Exhibition not only shows a replica of the Shroud but also many museum panels and artifacts of Christ s Passion; the exhibition is FREE but donations will be accepted and are encouraged. What a wonderful way to experience LENT. I wish All the Ladies a Happy Valentine s Day on February 14 th and ALL the Families a pleasant, peaceful Family Day on February 16 th. SK Dan Orawski, PGK, PFN Faithful Admiral Lead Commander s Report Worthy Sir Knights of the Assembly and Colour Corps, this is a period of the year when the activities of the Colour Corps are at a minimum, and I had mentioned it would be nice to get a NEW COLOUR CORPS picture, and to review the new or latest sword protocols. I also had mentioned that I would send out an with regards to both of those issues. For a group picture of the Colour Corps, we will wait until after Easter to allow those who are not in the area at this time to at least have an opportunity to join us, and as for the sword drill I have fulfilled my duty and sent out an recently. We will be assembling in McGregor for a Sword Drill and practice on Thursday, February 26th promptly at 5:30pm with the District Marshall Sir Knight Gord Edwards. PLEASE WORTHY MEMBERS OF THE COLOUR CORPS DO YOUR PART AND REPLY TO MY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WE NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY ARE ATTENDING. WE ALSO NEED TO MAKE A GOOD SHOWING FOR OUR ASSEMBLY AND THE DISTRICT MARSHALL. I wish to THANK Sir Knight Tim Lauriault for ALL the work he has done for Me and the Colour Corps Members and also anyone who is interested in joining the Colour Corps. 4 Sir Knights, Comptroller s Report I hope everyone is keeping well this winter. Let s hope it ends soon. We have had 80% of our members pay their dues for this year. Thank you for those who have paid and could we please get the others to send in the dues so I do not have to send out a second notice. It would be greatly appreciated. The finances are holding up ok and thankfully we have not had to make any $300 charitable donations for a while due to. (I do not want to jinx us by filling in the blank). Please attend the fish fry at the end of the month. Fundraisers are the only way we have to build funds for donations for our brother Sir Knights when they depart from us. It is important to support the fundraisers we have to benefit the funds we use to make donations when our Sir Knights pass away. It is the only way we have to get funds for those donations. Please remember dues are for general expenses to run the assembly only and no dues go to pay for the donations. Hope everyone can stay healthy and God bless. On Friday April 10, 2015, S.K. Deacon Milad Salloum (a member of the Dean Wagner Assembly and St. Peter's Maronite Council) will be ordained to the priesthood at St. Peter's Maronite Parish in Windsor. His Excellency Bishop Paul Marwan Tabet will ordain Deacon Milad. His Excellency Bishop Fabbro may also be in attendance for the ordination. Colour Corps are asked to assemble at 5:20PM for the 6:00PM ceremony at St. Peter's Maronite Parish (166 Tecumseh Road West, Windsor). There may be more details about any receptions afterwards, soon. On Sunday April 12, 2015 Colour Corps are asked to assemble at 11:00AM for the 11:30AM Mass at St. Peter's Maronite Parish (166 Tecumseh Road West, Windsor). This will be the first Mass of S.K. Place Chosen Charitable Donation: A monetary gift will be presented to a Registered Charity of the Sir Knight s choice, which is in lieu of a Chalice/Ciborium and represents a religious memorial gift and must be such as to honour his name. The current amount our Assembly has designated in a monetary form is $ (Examples-Church Restoration Funds, Religious Orders, Seminaries, Convents, etc.). Memorial Gift & Place Chosen: NOTE: If there is no disposition form on record or no selection has been made by the Family, it will be up to the Assembly to choose a Charity for the above mentioned charitable donation, which will be presented in memory of the Sir Knight.
