At fle recent annual meetng Amercan Veternary Medcal assocaton at St. Lous among many topcs dscussed -was tle cattle mange problem west. G. H. Cattle may easly become renfected after mange mtes have been destroyed by dppng. Compulsory dppng before shpment s consdered an unnecessay hardshp for cattlemen Colorado. Dlpplngr H Treatment: Fsk s Comer A PROBLEM OF THE WEST. HS N. S. Mayo dscussed same problem as t occurs n Kansas. He consdered quarantne dppng ns absolutely necessary. Tbe most effectve cheapest least njurous dp s tbe homemade lme sulphur dp. Coal tar dps are consdered objectonable on account r odor varaton n strength rrtaton whch y cause to skn r.excessve cost. Most m cost from two to three tmes as much as lme sulphur dp. t was recommended that dp be made so as to show a slght excess sulphur. Cattle should be dpped twce ten days apart. n sprng wth dp at a temperature 110 degrees F. Cottonseed ol was found to be effectve as a dp but was rar too expensve. Dynamo Ol Snlpbnr. M. E. Knowles stated that h treatment wth dynamo ol had been successful wth hm n 4000 cases. To dynamo ol about 2 per cent sulphur s added. The best method n speaker s experence for keepng dp warm was by tbe use a calorc transformer as enlployed by brewers. Tbe dppng vats n Montana contan from to gallons water. N. S. The oled road costs about V3 cents pçà. square foot whle asphaltum costs 15 cents a powdered grante road s nearly twce as expensve as ol where re s same relatve stuaton as to materal. Rubber tres are not njured by oled road as was clamed at frst surface does not sten as asphalt roads do s not so easly cut up by wagon tres. ndeed t s sad that oled roads are most mportant dscovery n roadmakng for dusty countres that has ever been made. Where se condtons cau be met a beautful road may be constructed dfferng but lttle n appearance from an asphaltum road havng all ts advantages wthout any ts drawbacks. At present re are about 1000 mles se roads n Calforna. Country Lfe la Amerca.
