I did not even know there was such a thing. They were very encouraging, and set you apart as a great congregation who loves and supports their pastor. I also appreciate your support and prayers this past week while I was ill. Receiving cards can be such an important ministry, which you as a care team/card ministry do so well. I continue to thank God for allowing me to serve in this place and you make it even more special by being the church that does things in the community. It is no wonder Seward UMC is such a strong and great church carrying out God s ministry of making disciples and transforming the world. Thanks for being a wonderful community in which to serve God. Psalm 9:1 Sunday School Leaders Sunday, November 6 th will find us sharing new Bible Storybooks and Bibles with our Kindergarten and Third Graders. Letters were mailed with details for children to attend either the 8:30 or 10:30 service that day to receive their gift of God s Word. If children are unable to attend, please contact Jo Ellen to make arrangements to receive this gift. These new Bibles will allow children to read God s Word at Sunday School, worship, and also at home with their loved ones; their first and most important teachers of faith. You are invited to attend a thanksgiving gathering on Sunday, November 6 th at 11:45 in the Parlor. Bring your favorite dish to share we will also hand out new curriculum. Hope to see you there! Many thanks are extended to Vernon and Sue Curtis, and their lovely friends, who hosted a great hayride and bonfire evening for our entire church family! We had so much fun and your graciousness and kindness is appreciated! Thank you to all who took part in the Crop Walk for Seward County and to those who donated to help relieve hunger. 5 Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Fire Suppression/HVAC fund in helping us to reach our July goal. Unfortunately, we have approximately $229,000 left to be able to replace the old boiler system which covers all but the sanctuary, narthex and front entry. We are asking each of you who have not given to this fund and those that have already given to prayerfully consider either making a contribution or adding to the contribution you have already given. As you can see from the picture, the current system is being held together by a bandage and could fail at any time. Seward United Methodist Church will be celebrating our sesquicentennial (150 year anniversary) in August We need individuals who would be willing to serve on a planning committee to help make this a memorable event. This money is being used to buy computers and lap tops for the Epworth School. Although Cambells is no longer redeeming labels, the General Mills Box Tops for Education IS STILL ACTIVE. Each box top is worth 10. Your snipping makes a difference at Epworth Village. Thank you.

8 The Seward United Methodist Church Foundation is in its 9th year. The Foundation has established eight funding areas to help direct where memorial gifts October 2nd could be used. Remember, only the interest generated from the gifts are used for church related needs. Target goals have been developed for each area to help identify ones that need funding. Of the eight areas, Unrestricted, Missions, Building/Facilities, Witness, and Education are currently under target goals. If you feel you would like to help, just specify an area in writing when you contribute. The remaining areas are Worship/Music, Scholarships/Camperships, and Technology. Monthly Budget: $31,930 September 2016 Donations: $ 21,781 Expenses: $ 31,740 New Flooring is scheduled to be installed in the Fellowship Hall on Monday, November 14th through Friday, November 18th. No one will be able to use the hall on those days. **Volunteers are needed to stay after Charge Conference to tear out the old carpeting to save some money. Donations: General Operating & Mission Shares Expenses: Budgeted Items Only November 27th is United Methodist Student Day. As one of the six special Sundays of the United Methodist Church, there will be a special offering to support students at United Methodist colleges and universities. One hundred percent of your gift will go to scholarships to help United Methodist students achieve their educational goals. November 27th Work on the fire suppression system continues as the worker s had to bring a lift in the sanctuary. They were very careful and drove it on plywood down the hallway. They would take it outside on Friday night and bring it back on Monday. They also had to move the pews out of the way to access all areas. Last report for completion was mid-november as they have to set-up scaffolding in the balcony, work with the electrician, add some sprinkler heads and do some cleanup.

9 Family Pitch Night is scheduled for Sunday, November 20th. Please bring your family and join us for a game of pitch. You are welcome to bring a snack to share. All Music Christmas Services Sunday, December 18 8:30 & 10:30 Services Chancel Choir, Praise Team, Bell Choir, Cross Fire, and God s Squad, along with Organ, Trumpet and Piano! PRAYERS AND CONCERNS Please remember those who were lifted up in prayer for on-going health concerns. Prayers For: Continued strength and comfort for Arnold Boldt who is recovering from foot surgery at the Seward Hospital. POINSETTIAS The time is here to start thinking about Christmas Poinsettias.
