Paul Meseke Pastor pastor@clcfla.org Sharon Kostner Church Secretary Phone: office@clcfla.org Web site: First of all, I give thanks to God for all of you and your part in the ministry here at Christ Lutheran Church. I thank God for weather that frankly is pretty much beautiful, and yes hot would be less tolerable without air conditioning. But I wonder how many of the things in my/our life have we simple forgotten about and the blessings abundant that have been mercifully given us in our life times? I know, I was not as thankful for my parents for much of my life and now that they are gone, I glean from memorable moments and sayings that my parents gave me, without my knowing. So thank You, God, for my/our parents who brought us up in ways that formed who we are today. I was not always thankful for my teachers (too many to name), and all the training they gave me throughout my life and those who continue to teach me in many ways today. I remember Mrs. Wallace (kindergarten) who did not teach ABC s but as she said I will teach you the alphabet, which she did to all 29 of us. I have found that to be invaluable learning throughout my life, yet I have not been as thankful for her teaching as I probably should be. Maybe you too have had teacher(s) who have affected you as you think back. So again, maybe we all need to say thank You, God for the many wonderful teachers in my life. Yes I could list a litany of things to be thankful for, but truly wonder how many of the things I should be thankful for I have forgotten. And how many have I forgotten to thank of the people who were such blessing in my life. Of course we would all include our spouses, children, family, friends and those who are so near and dear to us. But again, have I been truly thankful. The psalmist writes give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. Yes, thank you for our faith, out Savior, Jesus and all the blessings from God too many to count or know. St. Paul begins many of his epistles (letters), I thank God for you! And how he treats the items he writes about shows his great concern for all the believers and non-believers where he writes. Would our letters begin the same? As we approach Thanksgiving this year let us be thankful of what we have and the blessings that have been given to us. Again as the psalmist writes, His mercy endureth forever. That s a long time forever! Let s live together in mercy and grace as we work together here at Christ Lutheran Church. Thank you for all being the blessings you are and I pray that I have and will continue to be a blessing to you. Happy Thanksgiving. Pastor Meseke

5 CONNECTING TO CHRIST Page 5 Game Night Game Night is here at Christ Lutheran Church ember 3rd and is on the 1st Friday night of each 7 pm. Domino s, Pinochle, or what would you like to play with others here at church? Come and enjoy a fun evening of fellowship. Dartball Group Dartball will be here on Saturday ember 10th at 9am. No experience required. You will be shown how to throw a dart, and learn that experience players still have trouble getting on bases. Come and enjoy a fun morning in the Fellowship Hall and join the group afterwards for lunch. LWML / Mary Martha Our next general meeting is on Friday ember 9th at 1pm. The LWML Mary marth Guild will hold Thank You Event to all our Veterans on Sunday ember 11th after the worship service in the Narthex. All are welcome to say thank you to the Veterans of our Congregation and to have some finger food. 49er s SAVE THE DATE! ember 16th 2018 at 5:00p.m. The 49ers are having a Turkey Dinner. Bring a dish to share. The Happy Sew N Sews Someone asked the other day, who we donated all of our items to. I don t have that information for this newsletter but I can tell you how many items are to be delivered this trip 24 Lap Quilts, 34 Adult cover ups, 10 Walker bags, 8 Catheter covers, and 14 caps. Plus some things were delivered the end of September & I don t have the count on those yet. We are thankful for a couple more gals who have joined our group & we have a couple of folks who can t attend, but sew or crochet at home for us. We cut, we sew & we tie knots and we re always surprised by how pretty our donated fabrics & yarn look. In ember we will meet on the 1st and the 15th in the Fellowship Hall 9-11:30 am. In December we will only meet on the 6th.. Then the rest of the month will be for Christmas & start back in January Come & Join Us! The Mission Board "Mission of the Month The Mission of the Month for ember: Christ Lutheran Church has adopted a family in need through Brooksville Elementary School as part of their Operation Heartfelt program. During the month of ember a Christmas tree will be set up in the narthex with paper ornaments attached. Each ornament identifies an age and gender of a family member with a gift suggestion. If you would like to help, choose an ornament and then return the wrapped present, with the ornament used as the gift tag, in December to the decorated box in the narthex. There are also food items tagged on the tree if you would like to help with Christmas dinner for the family. Contact Beth Landon if you have any questions SAVE The Date. The Millers are planning to be here on Dec 2nd. The Mission board is planning a pot-luck for them after worship. A sign up sheet is in the Narthex! Ceramics Our ember dates are Thursday ember 1 and 15 from 5-7pm. Terry has bisque available for you to do. Also she has clay for the potters wheel. Come and enjoy fellowship doing ceramics!
