The transport "Slam" whch encouered a fearful typhoon on ts frst trp to Manla, arrved n Honolulu early ths mornng 27 days from Manla. The long trp was due to strong head wnds durng the ere voyage. She carres a Unted States mall. t s expected that a return cargo ot anmals wll be taken from Honolulu nstead of returnng to San Francs co. Durng the other 20 Sharkey forced the ssue,, lke a bull terrer, was at hs man wth both hs unceasngly. n those 20 rounds Jeffres' great weght brawn helped hm to hold off the salor, n the 22d round he swung n a couple of vcous upper-cut- s that made Sharkey groggy.
