Due to the Christ United Methodist Church Safe Sanctuary Policy, we must have all personal belongings and supplies removed from the Fellowship Hall side of the church by 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 9 th as they have a Youth Fellowship Meeting in the Fellowship Hall at that time. This means that all bedding and personal effects must be moved to your cars before Closing, and that the Kitchen, Outside Team and Supplies will need additional help Sunday afternoon in returning the Conference Room to its original condition, cleaning up, and moving our kitchen and other supplies to the trailers. 3 AGAPE The Women s Walk #47 is a go. We need to pray for the team and the Pilgrims as they prepare for their weekend. Start gathering the agape for the walk. For those who supply agape for the walk please identify what individual or gathering supplies it. This will make it easier to return extras. Again, pray for the teams as they prepare to lead their pilgrims on their three day journey. Pray without ceasing! 72 Hour Prayer Vigil Remember your walk and seeing the posted prayer vigil. There were so many people praying for you and your fellow pilgrims and the team. Just 30 minutes to devote to the new pilgrims and the team members over their weekend will show that you truly care. The prayer list is only half full. There are plenty of time slots open. Sign up on line it is easy and convenient. WOMEN This is our third year as Agape Chairs so we must step down. We are still seeking an individual or individuals to serve as Agape Chairs. If you are interested in being Agape as Agape Chairs please contact us. Or if you have any questions please feel free to contact us also. If you are willing to take on the task of Agape Chair/s Nancy and I will be willing to show you the ropes on this set of walks and work with you on the first set of walks in RNPRESTON@HOTMAIL.COM OR De Colores Rich and Nancy Preston, Agape Chairs ********************************************************************************* FROM THE KITCHEN Walk 47 Women's Walk #47 is nearing and it's time to secure your favorite volunteer position. The good jobs go quickly so make sure you reserve early! I am looking for volunteers for all time slots and meals. Thursday team dinner 3 PM - 6 PM Friday Breakfast 7 AM - 9 AM, Lunch 10 AM - 1 PM, Dinner+ begin Saturday prep 3 PM - 7 PM Saturday Breakfast 7 AM - 9 AM, Lunch / dinner prep 10 AM - 3 PM, Saturday dinner 3 PM - 7 PM Sunday breakfast 7 A M - 9 AM, Lunch 10 AM - 1 PM. Also looking for someone to volunteer for extra help Sunday 10 AM - 2 PM with food inventory and packing. To offset cost, I am also looking for specific food donations. If interested in donating quantities of cabbage, apples, bananas, squash, potatoes please contact me. Also looking for specific help in preparing several dozen hard boiled eggs for the weekend. 4 From the Emmaus Community Lay Directors Thank you for your prayers & support in helping us attend the Walk to Emmaus International Advisory Committee meeting in Nashville. Last year we learned so much from the leaders & other communities. We are looking forward sharing our experiences, and information gleaned in the next Rainbow Connection. After the disappointment of the men s walk being postponed, we are very excited for the women s fall walk. The team & pilgrims are sure to see and feel God s presence those three days. We hope to see you helping out behind the scenes, showing your light during candlelight & at closing hearing how God has moved amongst the group. There are many opportunities for each of us to help out and serve. Please check this Rainbow Connection for the many opportunities & event times that will happen on the Women s Walk. As of this writing the Board of Directors is still praying & searching for new members to fill the Agape & Evangelism positions. These positions need to be filled by January 1, The Board can t operate with any vacancies. Please let us know if you are being called to step up and serve. 5 CHRYSALIS Board of Directors Opportunities to serve in Chrysalis Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Just wanted to make you aware of some board positions on the Chrysalis Board for the term. IF you have a heart for youth and would like some more information about what is entailed in each of the jobs or would like to nominate someone please call or me at chereit@rochester.rr.com or Decolores and Fly with Christ Nomination for Chrysalis Spiritual Director The Chrysalis Board has nominated Pastor Dave Wickins for the term for Chrysalis Spiritual Director. Pastor Dave has been the interim Spiritual Director for Chrysalis for the past year filling the term Pastors Steve and Laura Calos had to leave. Pastor Dave and his lovely wife Lisa attended Western New York Walk to Emmaus #26 at Emmanual UMC. He has been involved with children and youth all his career earning an early childhood degree before seminary. He served as a district youth director for the Mountainview community before studying for the pastorate. As a Pastor, he has served the Clymer and North Clymer UMCs before his present charge at Akron UMC. Pastor Dave has an amazing heart for youth which has become very clear to the Chrysalis Board during his year with us! He has challenged the board spiritually and has assisted us to reach out to churches and youth directors to get the word out about Chrysalis. He brings us many gifts and great knowledge about youth ministries. According to the Emmaus /Chrysalis by laws; the Community Lay Director and Spiritual Director positions need to be elected by the community at large. 8 De Colores! Greetings to the Emmaus Community! As are most days in our lives, these days are filled with good and bad news. While God has seen fit to postpone this Fall s Men s Walk, He has blessed us with enough women to go forth with Women s Walk #47. The last number I received was 16 eager Pilgrims, Thanks be to God for this blessing. Please try to come out for Send-off on Thursday, November 6 to wish the Team and new Pilgrims well, on Saturday the 8 th for Candlelight, and Sunday the 9 th to greet the newest members of our Community. Oh, and don t forget! Saturday November 22 from 9-3 for Reunion, for a more relaxed atmosphere to get to know our new members better. Next order of business! I am extremely excited to announce that Second Sunday at Six Gathering has graciously agreed to host this year s Christmas Party. It will be held on Saturday December 13 at Middleport UMC from 1-4 PM, directions to follow. Please bring your name tag and cross and a dish to share and come and join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. And don t forget our grand Tradition!, of the Gatherings presenting some sort of entertainment at the party. The church stands at the corner of Park Ave. & S. Vernon St. We will use the rear entrance of the church on S. Vernon St. Curbside parking is allowed on both sides of S. Vernon St. The church has a small parking lot off S. Vernon St. In addition, there is a municipal (free) parking lot on Main St. one block West of S. Vernon St. There is an easement between the municipal parking lot and the church parking lot, and it is a short walk to the back door of the church. From points West and NW, (Buffalo, and Niagara Falls) Take Rt 31 East to Rt 31, South Main St, or take Rt 104 East to Rt 271 South, Stone Rd., turn right. Stone Rd becomes N Main St, becomes South Main St, turn left on Park ave. From points East, (Rochester), Go West on Rt 31 through Medina to Rt 271 South Main, or west on 104 to Rt 271 Stone Rd.
