The media would have us believe that being a Christian is no longer politically correct. This leads me to a comment I read recently stating that the local church is one of the largest mission fields that is untapped by missionaries. The story went on to say that many of the people attending church are not really Christians. Recently I was told of a website called Sunday's Are The Worst ( and boy was it an eye opener. The website was originally started for a local contest where folks who work in the service industry could enter their Sunday experiences and possibly win a gift card to a local grocery store. Well, the responses came from all over the county and some from other countries. The general observation was that Church goers were rude, cheap, ungrateful and hateful. Where do we fit in this area? A Christian can demonstrate and witness to others by their actions. So many times others idea of Christianity is based on the actions of a select few. Remember, it is hard to walk with Christ when you're running with the Devil. Lets Run with Christ and create a positive image! Mac McConnell, Walk 25, Table of Abraham Community Lay Director Community Chrysalis Lay Director Days are getting cooler and shorter, leaves are turning, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and the season is changing. This reminds me of Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. Chrysalis is going through a change of season. Our Chrysalis Community actually started Son- Rise Emmaus and we ve had our summers of packed, fun-filled, spirit led Flights and Journeys. For the past few years, we have been in a fall season with things slowing down and lower numbers. We are now in winter; things are about at a standstill. Numbers and participation are extremely low. We made the hard decision to postpone Chrysalis this year, wanting to focus on getting our youth back. We ve made requests for help, with little to no response. We had a Shindig, and I would love to say that all had a great time, but truth is, not one person showed up. Not. One. Person. If we as a community to do not make Chrysalis a priority and show our support, why would youth want to participate? The first talk we hear on our walk to Emmaus is Priorities. A priority is where we invest our effort and time. It is time to make decisions for next year. My prayer is that we come together, show our support and bring Chrysalis out of this winter into the beautiful hope of spring and brighter days. Jamey Ferguson is organizing a group to help lead with enthusiasm for Jesus! He is excited to be a servant for Jesus and invites you to join him in leading others to praise God through music. Get Community Information On-Line With the discontinuation of the mailed newsletter, it is even more beneficial to join the Yahoo Group for SONrise Emmaus. Community information will continue to be available on line. Just prior to Walks, Flights and Journeys, newsletters will continue to be published in electronic format and will be available on line at: Consider signing up for our community s, if you have not already done so.
