Pilgrims of TW 118 AND TW119, welcome to the Community of Tidewater Emmaus! We are thrilled that you are here, and give praise to God for your Walk experiences! 2 team, providing Community Support, serving on our Board, leading music, bathing our Walks in prayer. You were so faithful, and God blessed us and over 120 pilgrims! Thank you so much to all those who have served in a Community Support role this year. This year has seen more members of our Community participate in the Walks than we've had in many years, and we've heard good feedback from many who served. The new shift-based focus has allowed many to give time and support this year in a manner they could not in prior years. We're seeing a great mix of new folks and veteran CS's supporting our walks, and the talk room teams and pilgrims have definitely benefited for it! Thank you for joining us in blessing the pilgrims! You may have heard the term Day of Deeper Understanding on your weekend or maybe your sponsor has talked with you about it. Day of Deeper Understanding, or DODU as we refer to it, is a requirement for you to sponsor someone on a weekend or to team on a weekend. There will be several opportunities for you to attend DODU. The first of these will be on Thursday, November 8 at 7 pm. It will be held at Foundry United Methodist Church in the Youth Building. Foundry is located at 2801 Virginia Beach Boulevard and is next to Beach Ford. The second opportunity will be at 4 pm. on November 17, the same day and location as Gathering. 3 WOW 2 more Walks have been done. It was an honor to be a part of both walks. Again, I say WOW God did an amazing job on these Men and Women all weekend long. Welcome to the Community TW118 & TW119. Let s get those applications in to Team and Sponsor for the Spring Walks and let s start praying for TW120 & TW121 to be the BEST walks ever. God is good all the time. I would like to thank everyone who either made a donation, paid their teaming and/or sponsorship fees through the PayNow button on our website. I would love to see more people this year doing the same thing. So go to our website and click on the PayNow button and donate $10 or more a month. If you would like to donate money to buy supplies, such as Bibles, Rooster Pins, Candles or anything else that is needed for the BEST Walk ever, please do so. Did you know your donation is tax deductible? You can also pay your teaming and sponsorship fees through the PayNow button. We are also using CloverGo which is an attachment to my phone and I can swipe or if you have a chip insert your credit card to pay for Tie Dye T-Shirts, Teaming Fees, Sponsorship Fees and so on. 4 Put Saturday, November 17th on your calendar! You're not going to want to miss the TWE Gathering that night at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. We will be welcoming our new members into the community and we want this to be a Rocking it out for Jesus kind of night! Put on your best Emmaus gear and come celebrate Jesus and welcome our new members from TW118 and TW119. DODU will be at 4:00, followed by the potluck dinner at 5:30 and Gathering at 6:30. The day before Candlelight we had NO musicians! We were going to have to use videos for Candlelight and Closing. We had put cries for help in the newsletter but had no response. Our Father loves us so much! Saturday night arrived and there were FOUR Musicians to play for Candlelight AND Closing! Praises and thanks to our God for His love, His grace, and His blessings! And I attend River Oak Church.(Clap). So did you think it was cool seeing all the people serving you Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. How about when you left the talk room everything was clean. And also all that stuff you got in your 4th day bag. Tidewater Community people People were blessed to do that for you!! And you can pay it forward!! Invite your prospec ve pilgrim to Lunch or dinner, tell them how special they are and invite them to this once in a life me moment!! Bring them to this place where the Light of the World transforms their hearts.so that they can RUN BACK and spread that love everywhere!! EARLY ROOSTER REGISTRATION DISCOUNT is on February 16th 2019 (the deadline for both walks to get their required 20 minimum). This is a $25 discount on the sponsorship fee. This Christian facility hosts summer camps for un-churched, disadvantaged children, houses missionaries from around the world and opens itself up for groups like Tidewater Emmaus. We are so thankful for this Christian relationship! The Hope Haven Manager, Ben Jacobs, is looking to hire kitchen-experienced folks for part time work for our weekend events and the summer camps. Due to state laws regarding food service, we can't do it on a volunteer basis; but if you are interested in applying to work in the kitchen during Emmaus weekends, and some summer camp weeks, please click the link bring you to application page on The Union Mission Ministries website. 6/10

7 Gree ngs Tidewater Emmaus Community We have just completed the Fall walks and the Spring walks will soon be upon us. And what does that mean??????...it means we will need to get 2 more teams up and running very soon. Now is the me for you to send in that teaming applica on as we prepare for TW120 and TW121. The teams will be chosen right a er the first of the year as teaming will start shortly a er that. If you have been thinking about teaming, now is your perfect opportunity to apply. There is nothing quite like being the hands and feet of Christ to a bunch on pilgrims. You probably remember the joy on the faces of some of the team members when you walked. It truly is a joyful experience. We try each me to balance the teams as much as possible with experienced teamers, those who have teamed a me or two, and those who would be teaming for the first me. If you just walked, this is a great way to keep that fire burning as you are surrounded by other Chris ans ready and willing to serve. The applica ons are on the website and you can pay the teaming fees either by check or online. It s that easy. You just need to say YES when our Lord calls. 8 What an awesome God we serve! I had the pleasure of checking in pilgrims on the men s and women s weekends and what an honor it was to carry luggage. There are so many volunteers signed up to do behind the scene work and prayers no one ever realizes how many until you are there, behind the scenes. My job as communications is to inform the community (which now includes TW118 and TW119) on what is going on throughout the community and notify everyone when its time to sign up for prayer vigils, CS work which is behind the scenes and then plead when we do not have enough people signed up. And of course the monthly newsletter. You may get blast on occasion to let you know important information throughout the Emmaus community and urgent prayer request but rest assured, no one else can see your address. I think that is a big concern from people when they start getting s. Well Tidewater Emmaus uses Constant Contact. They are a spam safe ing house that monitors our , never shares, and we can update your information one time and it is done. Makes life easy for us when we to over 1,500 Emmaus Community members a month. Enough of that. Welcome to your Emmaus Community TW118 and TW119. 9 Giving Tuesday and The Walk to Emmaus Gift Fund Giving Tuesday (November 27, 2018) is a global giving day fueled by the power of collaboration to bring about change. And, it is the perfect day for those who have been impacted by The Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis to share their gratitude and help other Christian leaders around the world experience this meaningful journey. This year, donations to The Walk to Emmaus Gift Fund raised on Giving Tuesday will support the start-up of Emmaus communities in Kenya, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Poland, and Bulgaria. Plus, money for the Gift Fund supports the essential work of our regional leaders, representing us around the world. In 2017, Emmaus communities raised nearly $125,000 for the Gift fund. This year, the goal is $140,000 because the need is greater. Here s how you can help: 1. Share the word. emmausgift.org will be updated along the way with stories about how Gift donations make a difference. 2. Pray. Set aside time today to pray for these new communities. 3. 10 The Monday morning after the men s walk, I had to travel to Williamsburg to attend the inventory at one of my work locations. The inventory was set to start at 6:30 am and anyone who know me, knows I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON...EEK! But as I was driving, I began to see the first rays of dawn and began to think about how, since my walk over 15 years ago, God has pushed me out of my comfort zone. Like having me wake up early so I can see the majesty of His sun rise or taking on an active role in the Emmaus community through sponsorship, teaming, community support or a term on the board. But I think the greatest challenge He gave me is when a dear friend of mine asked me to team on my first Chrysalis flight about 10 years ago. Even though I work with preschoolers at VBS in my church, teenagers were just not my thing, but I said yes anyway. I went into that weekend feeling a bit like Paul in Matthew 14:29-30, knowing I was supposed to be there, but losing that faith somewhere in the weekend was this where I really should be, that sinking feeling. But after closing was completed, one of the young ladies that I least expected at my table came up to me, hugged me and said that this weekend had changed her life. I knew right then Jesus has reached out his hand to both of us to put us straight with our faith walk with him. So now I am asking each and every one of you to get out of your comfort zone and sponsor. We need butterflies, both girls and boys, for the upcoming flights this January 19 th 21 st at Triple R Ranch in Chesapeake. They must be at least in 9 th grade and at least 15 years of age. How great would it be for TWC 64 & 65 to have full flights. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at candlelight and closing for the youth. Show them why the Tidewater Emmaus/Chrysalis community is the best in the country!
